Do you struggle with social anxiety/anxiety?

Since quitting porn have you felt a difference in social anxiety?

Do you think that porn addiction can be the outright cause of social anxiety developing?

What do you do to help/manage social anxiety other than quitting porn?

What do you think caused anxiety/SA to start/develop for you?

I struggle with social anxiety mostly when I am out of my house. I had severe social anxiety that made me go with a parkas even on hot days with my hoodie on. I thouhght I was being watched and people thought I was weird which I was at that point in my life as well as a heavy porn addict. Quitting porn has given me confidence that I can kick this bad habit and build new better habits which again increase confidence. For me it was a mix of trauma and porn together that made me isolate and seek comfort in escaping for hours to the digital world of porn. Other than quitting porn I get tips from gemini and chat gpt about anxiety and tell them about my day. I try to be humble and think to myself that I am enough and that being authentic to others even though you may seem boring is fine.

I've been struggling with social anxiety since I was little, long before I discovered porn. But I think that in some way my attraction was a symptom of that anxiety and related loneliness.

In terms of dealing with it, there have been specific events that I've simply had to toughen out. But I avoid a lot of other things, which isn't good. I've seen a few psychologists over the years and each has helped me a little. I'm seeing another one now.

I don't recall that the last time I did a long streak I felt more confident, but I may be misremembering, or simply wasn't aware enough of that sudden confidence.

Same are there any success stories from you guys. I’m also exploring the connection currently and if anxiety can be greatly redused with retention

How long have you quit porn for?

That's a good idea to use AI to help with anxiety. I bet it can help change thinking/perspective on things, vent out worry's and help build healthier thinking. Sort of a free therapist.

I can feel like all eyes are on me and judging my every move. Heart pounding in a lot of social situations, its exhausting. I try not to fight or resist my anxious thoughts, it normally just makes them stronger if I do.

In fact, my biggest problem is that anxiety can appear at any time and it does not depend on where I am
How long have you been off porn for?

Have you noticed any difference from quitting?

Do you drink a lot of caffeine? Someone I know drank a lot of caffeine and had anxiety a lot. Taking caffeine away or reducing it really helped.

Avoidance was my number one solution for a long time. Now I try expose myself to things more and more.

I also try to stop fighting/resisting my anxious thoughts.

Its like if you want a body of water to be at peace and balance you need to leave it alone to eventually settle down. Same with thoughts and feeling. If you keep prodding and fighting them it keeps them high. Easier said then done.

I think I've had social anxiety since childhood. I still have a hard time getting rid of it

I feel I've always been anxious from young more then normal.

apart from quitting porn which has helped me so far, but I'm still early in my reboot, is:

stopping fighting my anxious thoughts and just feeling them however strong they were. Its like if you want lets say a bath of water to be at peace and balance you need to leave it alone, no moving or aggravating it, so it eventually settles down. Same with thoughts and feeling. If you keep prodding and fighting them it keeps them high.

Yes, I actually take in a lot of caffeine during the day. I can't get rid of the habit of drinking coffee 5-6 times a day

I like a coffee too, it becomes routine. In the past if I want to quit caffeine or smoking I would cut my daily intake in half for a while, then again till it becomes easier

I heard about nofap around 15 years old but never paid any attention to it. It was not until 2021 that I took it serious and got my longest streak, and now I am back on track, better equipped to go for it and not ending up in a situation where nofap is the only thing I am holding onto thinking it will fix my problems.

Yes, i find it very good to chat with AI without having to worry about being judged, and in that case it may be a lot more objective than a therapist. One thing I find helps with anxiety is being on the path of improvement, making good habits and being mindful of what causes anxiety so you can expose yourself gradually and operate better.
