    Hello,
So after a few failed attempts of quitting porn, (by myself and with help from a psychologist) I have decided to try again and take control.
I have been pretty much hooked on it for around a year and a half, which probably doesn't sound like that long but I have wasted a lot of time and money on it.
I am not sure how I got hooked originally because before that I felt like I had a healthy relationship with porn. (only went on it every so often) but for the last 1 and a 1/2 years I've been on it a couple times a day. In this time I have spent around $8,000 on a cam site. I impulsively spend money that I should have saved or paid bills with. Its gotten to the point where I am sick of being in a cycle where I spend money on it, regret it and stress about paying bills and do it all over again as soon as I get my next pay.
I know that taking control of this will improve my financial and mental health!
I have deleted my porn site accounts, deleted a couple girls off Instagram (that sells pics) and keen to take control.
I am starting my reboot for 30days.
    No porn of any kind.
I will not be abstaining from sex with my partner (as its only ever been the porn that has been an issue for me.)
Keen to talk to others so we can support each other.
Hope you all have a great day and stay strong with your goals!

  2. Hello T. Gongratulations on deciding to remove porn from your life.

I don’t know if there is such a thing as a healty relationship with porn, except no relationship. What did you actually gain from it before you percived it as a problem?

If you hust were horny and wanted to see naked women it doesn’t make sense to pay camgirls, as the internet has more free porn than we have time left in our lives. What other need(s) are you covering by paying camgirls, that you don’t cover trough your relationship or social circle?

I guess before I would just search up porn when I was feeling horny every so often and didn't think about it too much. Then I started watching the camsite in free view and got curious about the private show and bought tokens for it and it all started from there.
I know what you mean, theres endless amount of free porn out there but I guess because the camgirls are doing what you ask them to do it makes it more personal. To answer your question about what needs are covered, tbh i am not 100% sure. I have a partner and we seem to have a good, normal sex life. We are both into it and its normally fairly even who wants it. (meaning I'm not always needing/begging for sex)
The constant porn usage might have been a way of coping with other stresses in my life but actually added to my stress with money. I have never had a problem with drugs or alcohol. (Never tried drugs and only have a drink occasionally) so its interesting that I got so hooked on porn/camgirls.
I am going to work on my other stresses with a psychologist, I have watched a few videos about dopamine which is starting to make sense.

  4. I see, you basically had a slippery slope experiance where one thing led to another. There is also the phenomenon of people needing more and more pornography stimulation because of desensitization. Mabey that played a role for you?

I used porn mainly to numb myself emotionally and thus escape from the pain of dealing with previous trauma. Your reasons might be diffrent though. Glad to hear that you are taking this seriously and working with a professional.

Yeah definitely a slippery slope and its so easy to stay in the same rut even when you know its bad for you.
I am also trying to get into meditation and abit of exercise!
