Success?

Discussion in 'Partner Support' started by Deleted Account, Jul 30, 2018.

  1. Are there any spouses here that are experiencing great success with your Porn addicts recovery and your own recovery of betrayal? I’d like to hear about it if so.

My husband is PMO free for over 2 years. Now, that is great, but he never committed to recovery. He has been a dry drunk for the past 2 years. He switched addictions to Cars (I know strange but it's true) 3 months PMO free. He has given up the car addiction thing for about 3 months now. He is taking steps in recovery but very slowly. He confronted his mom, which is huge. But he has yet to deal with the damage his addiction caused me.

For me, my recovery has been doing well. I have my bad days and triggers. And most times now if I am triggered I simply use breathing exercises and can manage my way through it. The triggers that still evoke a PTSD reaction are the triggers that my husband and I have not addressed because he doesn't talk to me.

I’m so happy you’ve had some success and I’m sure you feel some relief. I hope he starts working harder on his recovery and that you guys are able to stay on this path

My husband is doing great. Me, not so much.

  5. Have you taken any steps to help yourself and how long have you been at this?

Yes, I have. It's just an extremely slow process. It's been 13 months (July 1, 2017) since I found out about the PA. Before that, 20 months ago (Nov 2016), I found out he watched some P but he told me it was only a short period of time and he downplayed the severity greatly, told me he would stop, but he didn't. So, last July I found out that was a lie and it was a PA that spanned our entire 14 year marriage/16 year relationship.
I think I read in another thread that you homeschool? We do, too. There is another SO here that does as well. It has made all this even harder for me.

I’m so sorry for the pain you’re in. I know how you feel. Although I knew about the porn from the beginning. This most resent relapse just did me in. I think I’m losing my mind.

Yes I homeschool. I’m incredibly passionate about homeschool. I’ve been so thankful that I’ve been able to do this for my children. My husband knows I’m strongly contemplating a separation/divorce. He agreed to care for me and the kids however needed financially or whatever so I don’t have to change the kids lives. I’m thankful at least for that peace of mind.

I’m sorry you’ve been lied to and are hurting. Sending you a hug.
