Swami Sivananda is an indian yogi who created a world renown Yoga center called Divine Life society. I have read many of his books such as Thought power, benefits of Brahmacharya and his bibliography. In his books he mentions many benefits of semen retention. He talks about ways of fighting lustful thoughts and many other things similar to this. I found his books extremely interesting and a great way to keep oneself motivated through out ones noFap journey. I definitely, recommend everyone giving it a read.

I've skimmed through this one before: http://www.dlshq.org/download/brahmacharya.htm

That Swami is a beast. The teachings contained within that download are geared for people seeking to become completely celibate and eradicate lust and sexual desire from the core of their being. Very lofty material. Not really accessible for your average fapstronaut. But the teachings are authentic for sure. Master yogi/brahmachari level stuff.

Thanks for that link, I was not aware of how many other publications there were! I'm not trying to be celibate at this point in my life, although stretches of chastity are always good to practice. Ideally I would like to not have sex again until I get married. Definitely don't plan on any sexual activity until the reboot is complete. I do plan on pursuing a relationship as soon as I hit 90 days, and of course I hope to give up masturbation and all erotica/porn completely. But I'm still undecided as to when I get into a serious relationship whether I will have sex before marriage or not.

I suppose my future partner's values and beliefs will also play a huge role in making that decision, but I should just focus on staying steady with my progress right now!

Thanks! I have also noticed that there are many Hindus emphasizing the value of brahmacharya. This is in tune with the traditional Christian celibacy doctrine. As few Christians are aware of the value of celibacy nowadays, it's good that many Hindus still are.

I would prefer to get married but given the circumstances I may end up in a life-long celibacy. So, it's good to know that there are many benefits to it.

Hey guys thanks for your open mindedness, and the Swami advocates all religions. He isn't telling everyone to become celibate, he is just saying that sex should be used for procreation (and that constantly having sex can be a waste of energy). Note that some of his teachings are old school Hinduism. Some of his stuff is hard to believe but may be plausible "One drop of semen is manufactured out of forty drops of blood" ( he is a doctor). I find it interesting how he was always been against masturbation, back when doctors said it was healthy. However I think everyone should give him a read, regardless of their religion or belief because: firstly it's good to read in general, secondly he might teach you a thing or two on meditation and service to humanity and thirdly he might really open your mind.
