THE BOOK I READ TO DEFEAT MY PORN ADDICTION

    The following is my take on porn/masturbation taken from a habit(addiction) standpoint based on my knowledge and application of the book Atomic Habits by James Clear(Oct. 2018).

    You CANT just beat addiction out of nowhere with nothing but motivation. You need a plan, an understanding of your addiction, a redefining shift in identity...you really need to believe you are person who doesn't let porn control their life.


    EVERY SINGLE human behavior is linked to an underlying motive that is predetermined by evolution. For example:

    -obtaining food and water
    -conserving energy
    -connect and bond with others
    -find love and reproduce
    -win social acceptance
    -etc.

    Everyone has a CURRENT state and a DESIRED state and the gap in between is action.
    • Currently you are single and lonely, as a human you have the innate desire to BE in love and reproduce(this is the state you DESIRE) and when you can't find someone you turn to porn and masturbate(the ACTION) as a solution.
    And even if you aren't single take a look at this:

    Humans are hardwired for certain superstimuli that are meant to keep individuals and our species alive.
    • For example: our ancestors wouldn't always know where their next meal would be so finding fats and sugars which store lots of energy over time was great so our brains rewarded eating these food with dopamine. However in the world we live in finding fats and sugars would be considered unfathomable by our ancestors and bingeing on junk food and sugar is overloading this food stimuli to an extreme to the point where normal healthy foods aren't appealing.
    • We are also hardwired to reproduce and keep our species alive. Our cue or superstimuli(for men) are parts of the female body that associate with attraction. For example BOOBS[lmao] are a superstimuli that should turn on men but when we watch porn we overload that stimuli with women who have enormous unrealistic breasts sizes and other high sexual expectations. And when we make watching porn a habit we rewire our brain(literally physical new neuron pathways are being created) to set enormous breasts as the standard to being ready to engage in reproduction and we want to feel this rush over and over again especially when it's so easily accessible.
    • ^now anytime you get the DESIRE to be reproducing your baseline is big breasts and when the only resistances that's stopping you from changing your CURRENT state is a quick Ctrl+Shift+n pornhu- your subconscious acts out and before you know it you're beating off to an enormous boobed milf with botox injections and a disgusting butt lift as she's being railed cuz she got "StUcK iN a WaSHinG MacHIne"
    ^^Another trick I used anytime I started going through the motions of watching porn I would say allowed everything I was about to do and the names of the videos I was about to watch. The whole process of porn sounds really lame when you say "...And now I'm about to masturbate to...Stepsister Fucks Stepdad and then swallows like a pro...why the f$!# am I watching this"

    There a ton of more helpful topics mentioned in the book along with many diagrams that are fit for normal people to read. Reading this book help me break down my addiction with porn/masturbation and then to act on them with positive results(day 70 baby!). And it's a top 40 seller on amazon, pretty credible.

    Hope someone gets inspired and gets a copy of this book. Posting your feelings in recovery and getting answers from random people on forums won't solve your addiction as quickly as being able to understand the roots and components of your addiction to act on.
