The Dopamine Detox Challenge! The objective of this challenge is to bore yourself to death. Yes! bore yourself to the extent that you end up picking a book, starting your project work, cutting some belly fat or start forming life changing habits such as meditation, journaling, reading etc. Do you take shortcuts in order to get rid of this PMO habit by watching and spending time on T.v. series, Movies, playing video games, depending on carby/sugary food, mindless YouTube surfing which you used to spend on PMO? If your answer is yes, then you're an escapist. Just like me. This is way too much of escapism folks and works in line with "pleasure first, pain later." You're less motivated to do real things and want to escape more. Even reading these lines are torturous? Okay, here are some videos that may clarify things a bit more Here's Dr. Robert Lustig for you: Not satisfied? watch some more! So, the question is- "what are you gonna do about it?" status quo or freedom? Pain now or pain later? we are going to resensitise our brain by abstaining from low value and high stimulation activities for a period of at least 30 days! If you see this working, then keep on for more! chose the ones that you want to work on and write the ones that aren't listed here. Banned activities: 0. PMO/P-Subs/edging. 1. Movies/ T.V. series. 2. YouTube. 3. All social media. 4. Carby/ sugary foods. 5. Video games. 6. Music. 7. Disturbing news media. 8. sex chat with your gf. * Mention your activity. Allowed activities: Reading, Writing, exercise, Meditate, Journaling, using devices for productivity and whatever makes you happier yet not hollow. If you're interested, please tag me @Bihari and I'll add your name to the participants list. Please note that it's really easy to fail at this challenge, so be careful of the fallouts. Do check in daily(preferably) and please share your experience. *********List of helpful sites and links********* 1. I'll start. Day 0 Mode Extreme abstaining from: activities 1,2,3,4,5,6,7. I'll add reading, meditation and Journaling as my way out.
Day 0 monk mode = Extreme mode + Hard mode Monk mode:- Full starvation from Dopamine Extreme mode:-No staff that gives Dopamine. Eg: Whatsapp, Instagram, TV, computer games, sweets, etc Hard mode:-No PMO + No Edging+ No sex (big source of Dopamine) In Dopamine detox, it is good to be in monk mode to get results fast. But Monk mode is very tough. So better lets keep challenge in this way itself. Those who want to take Monk, they can take it. Others can do this without Monk mode. That also has its own benefits
It's obvious that people are already abstaining from PMO and edging. Thats why didn't think to mention. I get your point though.
I think, in this forum, this is the only challenge that focuses on full monk mode properties. This challenge can be used without monk mode also. I use it for monk mode.
I'm glad that you chose pain over comfort. welcome aboard. It's going to be tough and I wish you luck @Mr.gentleman
Day 2 of the detox complete. Into Day 3 now. Mode: extreme. 30 days like this look like an impossibility, but that's where the fun is.
@Bihari add me as well. Extreme mode, especially abstaining from porn in any form, YT non educational videos, and binge reading stuff online. Btw, reccomend watching this video for people not familiar with dopamine detox.
I guess challenge introduction part needs some revision. I'll add relevant videos link there. Thanks @ola501 welcome to the challenge.
