the Effect of understanding how it works !!

7 months since the last time i watched pornography ...
i am not here in this thread to discuss how that happened
or how i feel right now i am here just to talk about
the strongest belief i became convinced of "understanding and becoming aware of how that addiction works "from
Neural view " is one of the most powerfull weapons to fight that addiction with " so i have an important question here
is that true !!
and if it's true , can any one explaine the reason why that happens ??
if there is any psychological research or topic that talks about the effect of undestanding&awarness on quiting can point it on comments please
