The myriad of technology and readily accessible P screws me over and turns me into a drooling lazy bastard, so here it goes: 30 days without any computer, video games, or internet. Starting now with putting all my electronics on top of my cupboard out of reach. Leggo better life here I come.

30 days, wow. Just curious when is the last time you went without all that technology and for how long? There was a person on this forum I think his name is Plain who would do 'celibacy sprints' from technology, abstaining for like 24-48 hours per week from all tech. So if you find 30 days unbearable or impractical, try to start with a day or two and maybe work your way up to a week, then possibly a month. Just a thought. Much courage and discipline to you.

Last time I went without all that technology was... 3 years ago on a retreat, and I went for 3-4 days without it. Although you can tell I didn't make it to the 30 days, (it was around 23) I had to pay my school tuition online recently and after that I thought I'd take a break from my tech break. TBH I do get email notifications on my phone, so it wasn't a 100% tech break. I do plan on giving it another go shortly, during the break it felt as if a parasite had been finally removed from my body and I was liberated. It frees up a considerable amount of both mental energy and time. Thanks for your support, I wish you the best in your journey too.

  4. Wonderful! I envy you, I work as a web developer so it is hard to find much time away from the internet. I hope that you come back after your challenge and report how it all went.

I'm thinking about potentially taking one day every week electronics-free. I think that our brains get addicted to the constant stimulation that television / the internet provides.
