The Last Season of GOT

Season 6 was mediocre 7 was bad and 8 really bad. I've seen this coming awhile.

 

Its because the studio agreed they cannot deliver 8 - 9 eps 1 hour long last season. So they are just wrapping up by only 6 eps

 

Daenerys vs Jon was seen coming a mile away.

I just hope they don't kill off Tyrion, because that would be the last nail in the fucking coffin.

Not that they care, of course. It's the last episode, after all.

 

Even though i agree part of it is just due to purely bad writing (predictable plot points, character development that doesnt make sense, etc), i think the other part of it is just due to the episode constraint. Just as @Kratos_GOW said. That said, i really don't know what they could've done better, given the circumstances. They did come in season 8 with tons of plot points to wrap up....

 

They could have done extra seasons. DnD just want to move on to starwars... Some many character archs didn't get finished or even started.The deaths feel rushed too not even a sense of loss anymore. Last sad death was Hodor despite characters I preferred a lot more have died since.

 

I've enjoyed the last few episodes. The battle for Winterfell was nothing short of epic. Probably the best episode so far. I had to catch up and basically watched 7 seasons in a row. Season 3 stood out for me as the better one. If you watch all 7 seasons in a row you see it coming though. You know King's Landing is going to suffer sooner or later since the Lannisters are just not the right rulers and when it finally happens everyone is surprised and expects a careful approach or whatever. I say job well done, Daenerys!

If you're going to blame someone, you need to blame Cersei. Tyrion warned her it would happen if she didn't surrender, so she's the one responsible for her population. You also need to see the bigger picture, Dany lost one of her dragons at the hands of these people. Revenge isn't unreasonable since it was literally her child, I can imagine she's not the old Daenerys because of that, plus who did the population go running to? Not her, but Cersei. They declared themselves enemies by staying there and ringing those bells. Also in a war collateral damage just happens.

 

Cersai Didn't help but she didn't burn innocents alive. Why would the population run to Dany? They haven't been watching the show, they know nothing of her good deeds. The civilians are nothing but hostages of Cersai and Dany's future subjects. Makes no sense for her to burn them all alive. The drogons flames aren't inaccurate either she could have easily burnt the queen alive without attacking civilians.

 

It was great but sort of fizzles out when they ran out of books to adapt. The new seasons aren't bad compared to other TV shows it's just bad compared to the earlier seasons so its quite a jarring drop in quality.

Exactly. I loved the TV series so much after the 5th season I read the first three books in the series. It seems like the series went off the rails when the writers deviated from the original plotline. and that was around season 6. From then on the pacing was bad. They added in all these lame woke political plot lines that werent in the book that lingered, kind of went no where and then tried to make some big clumsy jump back into the main story. This season is just bad and the more dramatic they try to make it, the sillier it looks.

 

For sure. The early episodes prompted me to read the first three long books in the series. It goes off the rails around season 6.

 

It never stopped them before. They dont seem to be too shy about using filler.

Season 8 ended too fast I was waiting a whole year just for it and i was slightly dissapointed
