Man used to be multidimensional, Yes! Multidimensional with complex relations all around.

A man living in a village or even a city in Europe or anywhere in the world before the advent of the industrial revolution had a multitude of complex interconnected web of relations unlike the man of today.

He may have worked for himself on his own farm, or he may have have worked for someone who was from his own town or at least his own homeland, he probably lived close to were he was born, had relatives all around him, the shop owners whom he bought from were either close or distant relatives or people whom he was deeply acquainted with or maybe even friends with.

He probably learned his craft by people whom he again knew, and got married to someone not so different from him, their marriage was bound by a complex web of relations that meant both parties could not just leave each other or jump in between transitory boyfriends and girlfriends. They both needed each other.

The multidimensional man did not just think of money or individual gains 24/7, he thought about spirituality, the well being of his offspring, his community and homeland.

The multidimensional man was not someone who was purely functional (i.e. someone who can be described simply by his occupation or function/job), he was a complex man, whom many people cared about.

When the multidimensional man died, many attended his funeral and wept for him, like most of his kinsmen.

The one dimensional man on the other hand is a simple man, with simple relations and simple aspirations which are neither intertwined nor transcendent.

He can be described by his occupation, similar to how an ant has a specific function and is just a sexless number in the colony, man today is inching towards that target.

Relationships for the man of today are also quite simple in all terms, you do not know the shop owner you buy from, or the one who produced the things you use, they are there simply to perform a function. One function.

Even your existing/potential wife or girlfriend might have her own career ambitions and aspirations that might precede the importance of your relationship. After all, in a simple one dimensional world, everything is .. one dimensional, serves one purpose, one function and is not in an interconnected web of relationships. All succumbs to the efficient calculations of cost and profit and alternatives.

The work the one dimensional man does is also purely functional, probably benefiting a corporation located all over the world, employing a multitude of one dimensional men who serve specific functions same as in an ant colony.

When the one dimensional man dies, few people attend his funeral, some can't find any loved ones or even afford a funeral since the top most priority in this society is about profit and efficacy above all.

People resort to porn to try to fill the void and emptiness of their current existence, where we all lost a complex existence and are driven instead into a simple purposeless one.

What about those who do not have porn addictions? Look around you, look at that dude around the corner who is constantly "vaping", the other who has nothing in his life but work and getting drunk on the weekend. Most people have different forms of addictions as ways of coping.

That’s very true. I’m young, and I think a return to being more complex human beings will cycle back. We humans aren’t suppose to be addicts to lethargy/pleasure. We create and have bountiful energy. People in the past that didn’t just mindlessly consume created empires and new innovations and technology. But porn, drugs, video games, social media, takes all that away. Turns men into addicts and hateful/neurotic.
