The Part That's Not Our Fault

Discussion in 'Self Improvement' started by Deleted Account, Sep 4, 2022.

  1. Hey guys,

I just binge watched that new show, The Devil in Ohio. Interesting until they started slipping in the neoliberal propaganda, which is what motivated this post.

I want to suggest here that it isn't entirely our fault that we turn to porn and masturbation and start to struggle with women. Or is the chicken before the egg? Do we struggle with women and then turn to porn and masturbation? Obviously it's a cycle after whatever is first.

But anyway, this show slipped in several fucked up messages:

    1. Don't go to college, learn to code!
    2. Women should suppress their emotions and nurturing instinct in favor of sorting out their own psychological problems so they can be more productive and loyal to their profession.
    3. Men should stop having their own ambitions and go cook Thanksgiving dinner and explain to the kids why mom is absent.
    4. More lesbians on homecoming court!
    5. Religious people who have skills associated with traditional gender roles are sassholes.

Obviously I don't agree with any of this... but the point here isn't to get political.

What I am suggesting is that modern culture is trying to take women away from us. It is discouraging the part of them that would make our porn watching and bottled up unhealthy emotions unnecessary. It is suggesting that they act more like men, leaving us no wives or mothers.

Unless of course, we men start assuming those roles to maintain the contrast that makes a relationship work... or we all just take some sort of inconsistent middle ground... but those last two thoughts are for another thread or you can probably work out the results yourselves as an exercise lol.

Anyway, I am suggesting that it is modern neoliberal workaholic culture and the assault on religion and tradition by corporate America that is making porn an attractive substitute to today's "women" or fully convincing ourselves to hate our masculinity.

Blah. Try to have a nice day after reading that.
