You know who brought down one of the greatest civilizations of all time, that is, Rome? The Germanic tribes right? You know why? It's because the Romans became decadent, lazy, rich. Their slaves did all the work while they had orgies, drank, and gorged themselves on food. The Germanic tribes, on the other hand, SOUGHT struggle, pain and hardship. They purposely wore little clothing in winter, engaged in regular war for really no other sake then honor and the glory of battle. They destroyed the Romans because they were TOUGH. The were leathered, hardened, and they were STRONG!

So you know why I'll never orgasm again? Because it's hard. Forget every other reason. Forget all these supposed super powers, forget the energy retention. Forget personal morality. Forget religious reasons. I DO THIS BECAUSE IT'S HARD! YOU HEAR ME?! I do this because I choose to be STRONG. Look for pain, look for struggle. Seek out hell. Stop sparing yourself. Stop giving in. Stop giving up. Stop being weak. Do you realize if you succeed in doing this you will be vastly more disciplined then the great majority of the world? You will have the edge. You will be the Barbarian to the Roman.

I challenge anyone who isn't to experience hard mode.

far too much territory - not possible to control by the army. there are some other examples like the roman empire.
i guess greed for more territory is/was the main problem.

    edit:
and nearly every country or tribe you conquer is your enemy.

Well to be fair I grossly over simplified history here. The fall of Rome was caused by a myriad of things. It was more of an illustration highlighting a greater point.

I think Rome's biggest falls were the corrupt leaders. Caesar may have been the conquerer but octavious had the most power no leader had as much power after him. And the rest truly were crazy it was an over time thing to like 400 years not all at once. But I think how big it was just really ended it that and they got lazy.

Can you clarify about the never orgasming again bit? Have you decided on a life of celibacy or am I misreading this and you will with a partner?

I'm not sure about the history in the thread but I take your point and it made me think of the Spartans. However as much as I'd like some of their qualities I'm not sure I'd want to get involved in some of what they did for kicks after work. That's not a dig at anyone BTW, it's just me and my inappropriate humour. Sorry, I'll get my coat.....

Lol. Yeah wotawanka the Spartans had some..."unique" sexual practices. They ultimately led to the Spartans downfall actually. It got to a point where they were not having enough children because the majority of Spartans preferred young members of their same sex.

As far as with myself. Yes, my goal is lifelong celibacy. This is of course also excluding porn and masturbation.

    Hey
Could you guys move this thread to "off topic"?
I really don't think it belongs in "self improvement", unless some of you guys want to improve yourselves by checking your thinly veiled homophobic comments.
Yeah MW, I'm a little "butt hurt". Get it? Butthurt?

    @fagdad

come on! i guess wine and boys love was the biggest joy in roman times.

i guess they had the best orgies in history (reprimand to roman-war-movies). :)

Alright. I stand corrected then. I guess the whole baby wine bath and war was the problem.

Well this thread got hopelessly off track immediately. It wasn't my intention for it to be about Spartan sexual practices... And yes, I can pretty much feel the animosity over the internet fagdad.

So... in history class I learned, the Spartans were basically the Nahzis of the ancient world. Sexual practices aside, why would anyone copy them? You don't copy the bad things!

As long as we're oversimplifying things, Rome fell because of lead in the water. It addled the minds of the ruling class and weakened the new generations. Lesson learned: check for exposure to toxic elements in your environment.

Now if you'll excuse me I have some imported grapes to eat on my sofa.

I thought Rome fell because of something to do with emperors being split or something. I can't remember, my history classes were years ago.

I think the fall of Rome was really multifaceted, as are most things in life. Corrupt, often insane emperors. Mind boggling infrastructure upkeep. Logistics problems. Decadence. Mass slavery. Etc.

I know what you were trying to say meloncony. Few studies have found a relation between abstaining and having better performance. Its actually mental in my opinion. That you give yourself an indestructible belief about anything be orgasming or just being gluten free. Its the psychological effects that help you. Whenever you make a life change in any way your body gives you positive feelings so you will continue.

Thats why everyone who abstains say how great they feel than say flatline. Is because they were always flattling its just the placebo effects wore away. That being said though I feel better but its not from being pmo free, well its part of it. But its really because of all the time and effort I have put in through this time the time I used with my extra energy. Its what I did just abstaining in my opinion is worthless your habits are the same. And is why when people fail they go through binges because they never found the underlying problem or to a degree changed something other than pmo. But just my two cents.

Anyway back to lifting I've been lifting like 4 years now I would say off and on. How long you been lifting man?

Hmmm. First time I touched a barbell was about two years ago. Started Olympic Weightlifting 1 year ago. Stepped my game up and started taking it seriously about six months ago. That's when I started competing.

Actually just hit an 215lb snatch today. Hit 286lb clean and a 279 C&J. All PRs in the last two weeks.

Not bad dude 215 snatch. I tried and hit a 135 its tough its gonna take awhile to learn the technique.

I find though that you can workout more when Olympic lifting because theres no esentric portion of the lift you just drop it. versus powerlifting which man so much rest just to get back to normal. I want to try to get above 315 PC by the end of the year any specific goals for you?
