I am from the group Metal Heads here and this is our thread.
This is a thread for developing oneself and improving one's life all around in doing so. I am on my phone so let me get to a computer and type out a longer intro post with the details this afternoon some time.
The Requirements to participate in discussion:
None. You don't even need to be interested in metal. It would be pretty groovy if you wanted to improve yourself and help others though.

Please be kind, polite, courteous, inspiring, insightful, and loving to others in this thread.
Topics of discussion and mission of our thread:
We will discuss the themes and meanings behind all kinds of metal from all periods of time: past, present, and future. We will strive to apply what we learn through metal to develop ourselves and will keep ever mindful of moving forward in our progress with discussion in here. Metal that does not aid self development is a matter of personal opinion so please just relate any metal you may share in here to how it is conducive to the mission of developing ourselves and improving life for the entire planet.
Quotes, daily routines, new thought patterns, new journaling techniques, and good habit building ideas will all be chatted up in here.
To open the discussion I want to share an idea from a book I just got for free by Carl Sagan titled The Dragons of Eden:

All our dreams can come true, if we all can dream together
One world, one mind, one heart
Raise your hands in belief; we can do this all together
One world, one mind, one heart
Let's get this word out of the way today first.
“Life is like a game of chess.
To win you have to make a move.
Knowing which move to make comes with IN-SIGHT
and knowledge, and by learning the lessons that are
acculated along the way.
We become each and every piece within the game called life!”
― Allan Rufus, The Master's Sacred Knowledge
SACRED.
“In the morning I bathe my intellect in the stupendous and cosmogonal philosophy of the Bhagvat Geeta, since whose composition years of the gods have elapsed, and in comparison with which our modern world and its literature seem puny and trivial; and I doubt if that philosophy is not to be referred to a previous state of existence, so remote is its sublimity from our conceptions. I lay down the book and go to my well for water, and lo! there I meet the servant of the Bramin, priest of Brahma and Vishnu and Indra, who still sits in his temple on the Ganges reading the Vedas, or dwells at the root of a tree with his crust and water jug. I meet his servant come to draw water for his master, and our buckets as it were grate together in the same well. The pure Walden water is mingled with the sacred water of the Ganges.”
― Henry David Thoreau, Walden
Heck let's double down while we are at it since this thread just opened, GRAND OPENING
style.
God based spoiler (this is technically a science thread 'tis why this is in a spoiler, for those who want to read it only):
DIVINE.
“Every man is a divinity in disguise, a god playing the fool.”
― Ralph Waldo Emerson
Alright I don't want to hog the discussion spotlight but I will chime in whenever there is a new chime ring-a-ding-dinging in my brain to post.
It just so happens there is one more for today.
Earlier I was pondering about having a thread of this nature inside the group hub but that was not my aim when I created this thread. This thread is not just about metal even though it is hosted by the Metal Heads group here. We want to extend our circle of compassion to embrace others with our own unique gifts, one of which happens to be an especially high aptitude for comprehending superb metal and using it to have awesome existences.
So I want to start brainstorming a new journaling technique but before I get there at the bottom of this post, here is a piece of some article I just snagged for this thread, who cares from where:
Here are ten mindfulness prompts from The Mindfulness Journal to help kickstart your journaling practice:
1. I reflect on the people in my life who have made me feel loved and supported. I feel grateful for…
Gratitude is a mindfulness practice that opens you to joy, compassion, and appreciation of the life that sustains you. Begin your morning or end your day with contemplation on those who have made a positive impact on your life.
2. As I sit quietly, I notice each breath I take, following the intake of air through my nose and into my lungs, and the slow exhalation as I release the air through my nose. As I repeat this mindful breathing for several minutes, I notice my body…
Most mindfulness practices begin with your body by drawing your attention to your breath and the quality of sensation. In ancient Buddhist teachings of “The Four Foundations of Mindfulness,” the first teaching is “mindfulness of the body,” which involves becoming familiar with and even loving the body. Body mindfulness anchors you in the here and now.
3. Today I sit quietly for a few moments and observe my thoughts as they float by in my mind. I don’t judge them, I just watch and notice. What does observation reveal to me about my thoughts?
Your own thoughts can trigger anxiety, unhappiness, and anger, which can keep your mind trapped in a constant negative loop. This cycle happens because we are unconscious of our thoughts, and allow them to run rampant in our brains without challenging them.
4. At home, I choose a routine chore (like washing dishes or folding clothes) and give my full and focused attention to every element of the chore. This is what I noticed…
The opportunity for mindfulness is in everything you do, in every task and seemingly unimportant activity of your day. When you align your attention and mental focus to whatever you are doing, you are truly living. You are here, now, experiencing the beauty and perfection of the moment.
5. As I meditate today, I notice my emotions and moods. As emotions and feelings arise, I simply name them without judgment. “This is anxiety.” “This is sleepiness.” In meditation today, I discovered…
Meditation is the centerpiece of a mindfulness practice, allowing you to cultivate an attitude of compassionate indifference to your thoughts by ceasing to identify with them. During meditation, you observe the patterns of your mind and learn to tame the incessant chattering of your thoughts.
6. Today I visualize the following outcome and the specific actions I’ll take to reach that outcome . ..
Visualization is a mindfulness tool using mental imagery to help you mentally rehearse an outcome or bring about a state of relaxation. It can be used in daily life to relieve stress, enhance motivation, and add more power to your physical and mental efforts.
7. This morning I create a ritual around my morning cup tea or coffee by paying full attention to all aspects of preparation, drinking, savoring, and cleaning up. This is how I celebrated my morning beverage, and how it made me feel…
Rituals are actions we imbue with meaning and significance that enhance our lives in some way. They are performed in a prescribed way that lends an element of sacredness to the occasion, and they slow us down enough that we can connect to the present moment.
8. Before I eat a meal that I or someone else has prepared, I take time today to notice the food, smell the aromas, and feel gratitude for the bounty before me. Taking this moment made me feel…
In our modern lives, there is little time to prepare, savor, and appreciate what we are eating. We become disconnected from our source of sustenance and energy.Preparing food and eating it more mindfully not only allows you to be present with the experience, but also can help you prevent overeating, lose weight, and become more aware of your body’s needs.
9. I spent time today being fully present and engaged with someone I care about. This is how I spent my time with him/her, and how this time together made me feel…
Being present with someone means you are fully attentive, engaged, and focused on the other person. You aren’t looking at your phone, distracted by the television, or thinking about the next thing you need to do. You are actively listening, responding, and showing with your words, expressions, and demeanor that you are completely in the moment with this person.
10. Today I sit outside in a quiet spot in nature. I close my eyes and take a few deep, cleansing breaths. Then I just listen. I notice all of the sounds around me. This is what I heard and experienced by listening to nature…
The beauty and simplicity of nature is what makes it so ideally suited to practicing mindfulness. Unlike our daily lives and the hectic world around us, nature’s allure is often subtle. The simple experience of walking outside in your own back yard is a great opportunity to practice mindfulness.
With each of these journal prompts, you are invited not only to write in your journal, but also to take some action that will immerse you in the experience of mindfulness.
Through these mindful actions combined with the practice of journaling about your experiences, you will enjoy a much richer practice of living in the now.
Ok I did NOT write any of that.
I had an idea inspired by a Post-hardcore/Metalcore band's song to try a new technique in my journal that I just decided to think of as present moment journaling. Each day I will turn the page as in not read earlier posts and just focus on that current day. I will leave my past out of the picture and begin painting a new log fresco in the mind each and every day.
Ok so good band and nice song but I want to live found in the moment as opposed to lost in it. Or rather awake and aware.
The In The Moment song recaptures the present moment journaling idea above nicely but is not what inspired it, this was the inspiration:
So if no one has anything to say I think another journaling technique can be raised for discussion to use with mindfulness of the present in mind while logging an entry for the day. I am thinking of two established techniques but let me research them a little more today before making a post about them.
