    Hello community :).

Here I am, a 28yo male, addicted to porn and fapping since I got my first computer (around 11 years ago more or less).
A little background: in the beginning I thought it was alright, with so many people behaving the same way and so much activity on the Internet, plus the media's attitude towards it. However, something inside of me kept telling me that while we are using a natural mechanism, there is something not quite natural on it. A couple of years ago, I began my spiritual journey and I realized there were certain things I had to change to continue on my path. One of them is controlling my addictions, which, besides some psychological stuff that might be well hidden, is fapping.

I've been really struggling to quit porn and fapping since that time. I've set many goals (3 days, 5 days, a week, a month), always on my own, and always resulting in the same thing: No more than 5 days out of it. I just can't get past that limit. That's how I know I'm addicted, that feeling of not being able to control my impulses, and also, the feeling that it is interfering with my social life. Things have improved since the beginning (I passed from fapping twice a day to fapping once every 2-3 days), but I feel I can't pass that limit alone, I can't fight this fight alone anymore.

That's why I'm here. I want more energy, I want more control over my impulses, I want less embarrassment, I want to be 100% me without addictive patterns controlling my behaviour. And I need your help and support. In return, I can offer my help and support.

I'm now in day two, and I'm signing up for Abstain August 2014. I'll start my journal and I'll keep reading articles and posts in the forum.

Thanks NoFap for existing, thanks YBNP for existing, thanks "Initial Post I read that led me here" for being written, and thank you guys for being part of this community.

I'm going to win this, WE are going to win this.

PS: I've seen so many abbreviations around the forum. Some I understand, some I don't. Is there any page I can get the meaning of them?

    PepitoGrillo:
Welcome. I congratulate you on understanding that this forum is a give and take place. Much more than anyone else needs your or my supportive comments, we need to give others our support to help ourselves. Doing so is critical to success. You will be shocked how much it works. I have been on here a short time and shared plenty of insights and encouragement on other's posts that have taught me just as much as it has others. It has kept my vision clear and frankly made it not so much of a strain. I promise you that you will be able to make it beyond what you feel are your limits. You may have to increase the frequency you are on here (I come on when I wake up and as I go to bed and that seems to work very well). I wish you all the best in this exciting journey!

Hey know_a_bit, thanks very much for your message :).
I totally agree with you. Plus, one of the reasons I registered here is that I need support, even if it is just a forum. I feel I need to know there are people like me who are pursuing the same goal, and, more important, people who have already achieved it. And I can't ask the world for support if I don't give support first, it's just the way it works, hehe.
So, thanks again for your message and congratulations on your progress, man! 14 days is quite something! Are you keeping a journal? Would like to follow it ;-).
    Have a good day!
