My fapping problem began when I was 12. I am 60 now. Much much older than the average person here. I am a well accomplished professional. I have a wife. I have hidden and given time energy and emotions to this monster. I have stopped from time to time. I have a sense I may have it right now. I am doing regular journalling. I can see the problems with fapping more clearly. I can see the reasons for failure.
My energy is up. My wanting my wife sexually has improved. I know this is only a short period of time but every journey starts with a step. Good journeys to all of you.

  2. Wow man, it really makes me realize that this monster can really control your life forever if we don't take control over it. I'm currently 18 and I first became addicted at the age of 13. This is a wake up call to everyone here. If we don't kill this monster it's gonna eventually kill us.

Aged 54 here. Yep, more of us old masturbators than you think.

There are even dedicated groups/forums etc for the sake of EMBRACING permanent surrender to masturbation. It's celebrated. Even though they know full well the consequences.

I will not name any of them. But if you want to witness the addiction as an observer, you can see it. Might be a trigger though

  4. Same here (64) There comes a time in life to say this has to end. I prevaricated and repeatedly relapsed for years. This year is it. No more. All the best.

The support on this site is remarkable. I appreciate the above posts. This allows us to talk about things we cannot really talk to anyone out of the sheer shame and fear of ostracism. Thank you.

Crazy...I actually really thought after a certain age, your instincts start to stop doing it anyways.

As I've heard lately: "The best time to stop it was 20 years ago, the next best time is now"

Steve, I wished that the need would diminish. But not for me. The destruction can easily be daily for me.

I remember when I was 17 y/o I wanted to see how long I could go without MO... back then we didn't have internet so the porn that was available to me was basically a JC Penny catalog, or Montgomery Wards, pictures of women in their underwear. I used to go to the library and spend hours looking through women's magazines and when I found a picture of a hot looking girl like in an underwear ad I would tear out the page and bring it home. funny yes to me now but back then that was my porn. The longest I ever went back in the 70's was 9 days, and it was hard core... took everything I had to do that. Now, I can go one month, 3 months and more. We can make progress over time, don't get discouraged if you relapse, look at your progress. I am in a position now to kill it permanently, I'm close, real close. I know I can do it now, it's just a matter of how much I want it... you got to want it. interesting now how things have changed, I go to Walmart and see posters ( public porn ) of seriously hot women in their underwear in the women's section. no big deal now but when I was 17 OMG....I'd a had a heart attack, seriously.

I'll be 65 next month. Your story sounds very familiar. Draw strength from the rest of us in your times of weakness. Your wife will appreciate the new you. The deceit and denial is strong, but it sounds like you have a clear perspective at this moment. Don't lose that because PM will try to convince you otherwise.

I'm 57, it can and must be done now. similarly I'v had years of success and relapse. The difference this time is I clearly understand the damage that it did to me, mentally, emotionally, Physically, Socially, Spiritually, Sexually. Porn is candy coated poison.

I forgot to mention the financial damage as well. we learn to change through the things that we suffer and since I'm a slow learner I needed to suffer much to learn

Cybotta, great point you make. And the financial damage cuts in two ways: the amount of money directly spent on porn, sex toys, massage "therapists", hookers, women you had no intentions to fall in love with, etc. etc. AND the indirect money wasted by spending countless hours on porn and masturbation.

I have sometimes joked with my friends, "If it weren't for porn, I'd be president."

Yes, it's too bad we didn't know about the specifics about this damage up front. I still think we're in a better position than the younger guys who have only known high speed streaming video and I'm thankful for that. When I first started suffering from ED, I had no clue it was PIED. I just thought it was a normal part of aging. (I wonder now what % of "older" guys are merely suffering the effects of years of PMO instead of any age-related condition.) I could deal with the ED. It's over the last year when I began to develop DE and the pills no longer worked to produce a lasting erection, I began to realize a connection with my increasing PMO habit. I still didn't fully understand all the other damage that was being done relationally. Hopefully I'm beginning to realize that now and also beginning to see healing in all these areas.

one thing for sure, our lives will be better without porn, whatever age, whatever your beliefs in God. I hope the younger guys learn from the older guys... Please please please quit porn in your youth or it will F..k up your life. I wouldn't want to see any young man go through what I have, it pains me to think about it. Interesting that I was born around the time that Playboy became mainstream, Mr. Hefner, and decades later came to a point in my life where I am truly ready to change.. about the time of his death. May the plague of porn die with him.

That would be great but I don’t see it happening. That train has already left the station, or maybe u should say, That toothpaste is already out of the tube” Seriously, the things I have learned lately have convinced me Internet P is the greatest threat to true manhood the world has ever known.

What a great thread! This is where I want my first post on the site. I'm 57, and had little or no porn use before my late thirties. Just started noticing the effects more often, wondered if there was a connection..., and here I am. Plenty of us older guys here, it seems. Thanks to all of you for all your posts here. It really gives me a boost.
