To answer @Latzie, what a great question. My guess is that we have already adapted (or designed) to accommodate the latitudes in which we (our ancestry) were born. Hence, the lighter skin tends to absorb the rays more easily than dark skin. Of course, this doesn't address the mobile nature of our current society. What about a darker pigmented person living in the north? There may very well be a deficiency as a result.

I think it works both ways. Some men need a women and some women need a man. Some don’t need anyone. There’s all kinds out there.
