60 days into my reboot and my main struggle his head porn. After years of HSI porn viewing, my favorite videos have been burned into my memory and often play back, often waking the man downstairs... I'm afraid how much these thoughts are setting me back and I'm seeking advice from fellow rebooters going through the same thing, thanks.

    Hi

Unwanted images can be disturbing and difficult to cope with. We often feel we should "push" them away, and become frustrated when they don't vanish or even gain strength despite (or perhaps because) of our efforts.

As someone who struggles with depression and unwanted memories the best thing I can suggest is to learn some basic mindfulness techniques. A great book for this is called 'The happiness trap'. You can get it on amazon, or in most bookstores. The key is not to resist the images, but to difuse them by training your observing mind. For example, if you have a video playing in your head and it is disturbing you imagine that you are in a room with other people and project that video onto a small tv in the corner of that room. Make the image black and white, or perhaps spin it upside down. Say to yourself 'I notice that I am having a thought about x'. Don't try push the pictures away, rather rob them of their power.

If you can't get hold of a copy for whatever reason PM me and I will type out some of the excersises for you. These are simple meditative exercises used by buddhist monks for generations, but that have been adapted using modern psychology.

I experience this once in a while.

Look at it this way. Dirty thoughts are like birds. You need to let them fly over head, and not make a nest in your head. If you get a dirty thought. imagine it as a bird and have it fly away.
