    Hi Everyone,

Does anyone know any good tips and tricks to beat this porn addiction? How do we beat something so impossible in it's nature. I don't know how to fight anymore, my mind keeps making excuses to relapse, either it's someones birthday, I didn't have a perfect relapse, not to become gay (HOCD). I'm so scared, and I don't know what to do..

Please give tips, or send links of someone who has if you know any good ones. That would be much appreciated.

  2. Read... Read and read... Until you realize that you don't know anything, then you are ready to beat this addiction.

  3. I always remember that the excuses (e.g., it’s someone’s birthday) are all ways that the addiction will keep a hold on you. Just remember it’s a day by day thing. Even if you don’t manage full abstinence, going from 7 times a week to 5 times a week is still a step in the right direction.

I relapsed yesterday. A counter argument I usually have with my mind about the birthdays are like "There's a birthday everyday of the year". But my mind counters it by saying "But you knew this person". It's soooo hard man.....It's become really bad lately, I never used to have this birthday thing. Only since last December or so has it happened, or this February. Thank you.

How much are you thinking about each fail, are you recording them? If no, then it could be why it's being so difficult. Relapses will happen, its normal, but everytime you do, write down why you think it happened and what you can do to avoid it. Having a journal in hand might be interesting when you are actually having the urges, instead of ignoring, try to understand it, put it on paper, see what you might be needing that is triggering you the need to watch porn and slowly day by day fixing any problems you find.

Each day, each week, each month, try and make it better than the last one. Be kind to yourself - relapses are part of recovery. BUT don't use it as an excuse not to change. This time next year you should be able to look back and see a marked improvement in your lifestyle, frequency of relapses and the kind of material you are viewing (if you still are at all).

My top tip is: company! Be around people, have a busy schedule and spend time outside your house as much as possible. Depending on the lockdown rules where you live (this has made it soooo hard for me!), but even wandering around the streets by yourself is better than sitting at home with a desperate urge to relapse.
