Traditionalism VS Modernity(thoughts)

Politico magazine reported that "Dating has fallen precipitously in recent years, at least among teens, as smartphones and screens have become more popular. In the past 10 years, the share of high school seniors who reported ever going out on dates fell from about 70 percent to approximately 55 percent." The truth of the matter is millennials are having less sex. Byproducts of modernity are fueling the fire, the most popular online porn site in the United States, saw its viewership rocket from 10 million daily visits in 2009 to 25 million in 2012 to 75 million in 2017.

Everything has become an electronic reproduction of life. Want sex? You can have wall to wall HD pornography at the click of a button. Want to be heroic? With the sony playstation you can be the hero over and over again. Want adventure? Netflix has your fantasy in a 12 part series. These masturbatory activities require no energy, no hunt, and no sacrifice. These synthetic replacements for life have led to a society of unfulfilled indolent individuals who are hopelessly addicted to cheap instant gratification. Is it really puzzling as to why anti depressant use climbed 65 percent between 1999 and 2014(women are using at twice the rate as men)? We chemically alter our brains to cope with things that would otherwise be intolerable.

Humans are social hands on creatures, we need love and true affection, we need to feel useful and most importantly we need to have a sense of belonging or we become hostile like a caged animal or unfulfilled and self destructive(drug use, alcohol abuse). What tribe do you belong to? A fantasy football league? Who needs you? Management at the Verizon Wireless call center? The truth is, most of us aren't that important in a giant capitalist universalist consumer society and were a stranger to everyone. In earlier tribal communities each member was valued and had an important role to play for the overall health and survival of the tribe. The Mayan civilization relied on farmers to bring in things like cotton, corn, and sunflower seeds, their roles were paramount. They relied on women to make clothing and fabrics as well as performing small harvest jobs. If they don't perform, it's to the detriment of the tribe. How many of us can say that if we died tomorrow our communities or even workplaces would feel a loss? The majority of us would be swapped out like a light bulb.

Julius Evola once said something to the effect of "Traditionalism is the most revolutionary ideology of our times". In an era where things of greatness are mocked, Masculinity is seen as some sort of social ill, womanhood is meaningless, children are bastardized, tribe doesn't exist, Normal is seen as "abnormal", and cowardice is the new brave, returning to the natural order is an act of revolution... a necessary revolution where we can thrive untainted in our natural roles and live life as nature intended. With modernity comes addictions, mental anguish, and overall psychosis...

“Our society tends to regard as a sickness any mode of thought or behavior that is inconvenient for the system and this is plausible because when an individual doesn't fit into the system it causes pain to the individual as well as problems for the system. Thus the manipulation of an individual to adjust him to the system is seen as a cure for a sickness and therefore as good”

  2. Yeah fuck contemporary society/culture. I am an "elder" millennial and I feel ruined by a lot of these trends. I feel so bad/scared for younger people

But is it possible to completely "go back"?

The ideal society should be a combination of both. Following tradition for the sake of tradition is just stupidity, but it's important to keep traditions that have positive benefits for society.

  4. I wonder how dating was defined in the study. I don't think teens date the way we think they should or the way we did. I can definitely see porn as a substitute for relationship though.

I think the damage is done, even someone like myself gets caught up in this shit(or I wouldn't be here). Were exposed to things at such a young age prior to establishing any convictions(defense mechanisms) and are expected to go through certain motions immediately. I'm not going to be the guy pissing on a forest fire, this ship has sailed and there's nothing to conserve. It's tough and at this point it's damage control... my GF is young but she understand things to a degree so that's what I focus on(my future family). KGB defector Bezmenov says it takes "15-20 years" to recover from demoralization so focus on your children/woman/tribe.

  6. If only we could turn back the clock eh? Would be nice but we’d fuck up again eventually anyways

  7. Yeah that is a good point. My concern is that, like me, they will "wake up" one day and realize they have missed out on something "real"

  9. My take on it is at least certain individuals got to witness special times while they lasted.

In my humble opinion there’s not much uplifting or special about the times we’re living in. Yes it’s crazy to imagine where we’re at in society but if you use that imagination a little further you’ll realize all the tragedies and possible (and somewhat inevitable) ones.

A sort of related question I have is where is humanity’s boiling point? What is the series of events that will plug the plug on this whole thing where there’s no going back?

Traditions are hard-won wisdom. If traditions didn't work, they wouldn't have endured in a very competitive world.
