    Hi everyone,

This is my first time using NoFap and as my title suggests I tried this before in 2018 without the support and information available on this website. I attempted what this website refers to as 'standard mode' but re-lapsed within 5 days of abstinence and unfortunately went on a binge. Now, looking back at this makes me realise how deep-set this problem is.

A bit of background about me and why i've chosen to attempt a 90 day re-boot.
I discovered internet pornography around 2006, I would have been 13 at the time. A friend of the same age sent me a link to a certain website, from there I began to increase frequency of viewing to daily and have been consuming material almost daily up until today. That is almost 17 years of being stuck in a constant cycle of consumption and reward.
I'm 30 in 3 months and I have decided that enough is enough and that I have realised and admit that I have an addiction and I need to re-boot.
I think the thing that would really benefit me this time is having the support of this community and other like-minded individuals to keep me on the right path.

So here we are, day 0. I last consumed 4 hours ago, I have since wiped history, search terms and deleted associated accounts from those sites. I'm ready, time to get control of this.
Any pointers for the first week are appreciated.

Hey dude. Great job returning. I am fairly new to this community, but I’ve known about NoFap and Self-Improvement for about two years now.

    Biggest Tips:
    1. Delete social media.
Getting rid of social media is paramount to success. That was something that really I struggled with. I would cope and say: “I don’t need to get rid of Instagram or TikTok.” But those would only spark improper thoughts and urges. Deleting social media will provide huge performance to being on NoFap. I promise you your mind will cope and say you don’t need to delete it, but trust me that has helped me A LOT.

    2. Set a Sleep Time.
I’ll be honest I’m working on this, but sleeping at a specific time preferably something that gives you 8-9 hours IS A BIG DIFFERENCE. Having a set sleep time will prevent you from coping in the morning to fap because you’re awake, but you’re still sleepy/energyless. Please start sleeping early.

I wish the best please wish me the best as well.

Thanks guys and thank you for the advice, I think getting rid of social media will help a lot!
I tend to be fairly good with sleep times due to having to be up early for work, last night was a struggle due to being off work for a bit over the holidays and re-adjusting. A pre-bed fap was my enemy previously, so I think a more rigid routine would definitely help.

I wish you both the best with your journeys!

Welcome! This is so good to hear. You're on the right track.

Some tips I'd have would be:
    1. Keep logging your journey on here in a journal :)
    2. Develop some low-barrier strategies to deal with your triggers and urges. Try to make it pretty detailed and specific. Then you can come back to your own journal entry about it and follow up when the urge/trigger happens.

In regards to the first week - it varies for people in terms of urges (some have no urges because their motivation is at an all time high, and other have lots of urges because they haven't really committed to breaking free i.e half-in/half-out mentality), but this is a good week to build your commitment to breaking free. So focus on journaling a strong 'why' you want to be free from PMO, and build a conviction and vision around who you were made to be (your most authentic self).

I found urges started showing up around the 3rd and 4th week, but I'm glad I spent the first couple weeks building some strategy and foundation for my thoughts.

    Hope this helps.
