Triggering Ads on TV

Hello,
does anyone here know how to block ads on youtube?
On my samsung TV I play background videos but once in a while ads pop up that can be a trigger. There seems to be no add blocker in the appstore either.
Only solution would be to access video sharing plattforms similiar to youtube through the browser but they tend to have even more explicit ads on the side, so that's not an option.

I know how to get rid of the ads, throw the stupid TV out the window. TV is brain numbing.

I threw the stupid TV out years ago and now I got myself a smart one ;)
Jokes aside I get what you mean. I use it primarily to access youtube. There is a lot of content out there that is quite good, even for watching treadmill type of videos when I do some cycling on my home bike trainer.
The thing is the ads. Man, I wish I knew how to get rid of those. Especially when I'm watching fitness related videos the ads that come up every 20 or 30 minutes can really throw you off the bike, and Nofap.

You probably cannot get rid of them; so just train yourself that whenever those adds come on, just close your eyes for 30 seconds until it’s over (No peaking, just close your eyes) and I would think that would do the trick. I imagine it’s only visually stimulating and hearing the add shouldn’t effect you in anyway.

Probably that's the only option.
And yes, the visuals is the problem in the ads as I have the TV on mute most of the time anyways.

You could download Youtube videos ahead of time using a browser extension and then go offline and watch those videos when you need them, such as when you're exercising on your bike.

Yeah, maybe I need to sign up and make a samsung account, maybe then I will be able to download extensions etc. Thanks for reminding me.

adblock & dftube browser extension works for youtube at least. Netflix doesn't have ads, netflix certainly have problems but you can tailor it to not be too triggering, I have a bookmark to my-list there and try to avoid going to their front page.

I see, thank you. But unfortunately even after I've signed up with a samsung account there seems to be no option to dowload extensions in the preinstalled browser. And the same in the 'store', only the few availabe apps/channels but no option to download a browser :(

Probably the long-term solution is to minimize screen time. Most users don't like to hear this because it is a radical change of lifestyle. But it is a step in the right direction for people with hypersensitive reward circuitry for certain kinds of internet-centric and media-centric imagery and content.

Yes, I remember I heard someone who overcame porn addiction 10 years ago speak about how to stop and one of the points was screen time and how watching 6 movies a week will probably cost you your streak. Not sure about if there is an exact number, but I think there is truth to it. Especially if it's hollywood movies. Sex is just part of the ingredients of modern movies, there is no denying of that.
But the same way there is a bad visual diet, there is also good visual diet.
Watching a lot of green/nature documentaries for example is said to calm down people. I remember I heard even in some prisons they play those type of contents for that reason.
And yeah there is a lot that one can watch that can influence a person to act in a certain (desired) way. When doing some cycling at home in winter, watching other people do the same on the screen can help. When reading and studying there is 'study with me' type of videos where people study and the good thing is often there is a large timer and these type of tools on the screen aswell. So, there is definitely good content aswell.

Ublock origin is king for any computer, never use AdBlock or AdBlock Plus or any other addon, they are bought and paid for.

Anywho, in all honesty, you can't go your whole life avoiding the sight of attractive women. It may be pandemic now, but eventually you'll want to go to the beach or out for a nature walk, and there will be a ton of them showing a lot of skin.

It is better to accept this as part of biology and allow it to wash over you. I don't understand the no mo but to each their own. Remember, you are doing something that goes against your biological nature by not masturbating, it is upsetting your body's balance. I really recommend switching to just no porn, as you delete the multiplier while not working against your own biology as a human being.

Maybe podcasts/audiobooks/music when exercising

That's also a good idea, definitely! Recently I deleted my browsing history and didn't watch any fitness related videos on the TV and apparently the ads with beautiful women in gym clothes are gone now. So I'm thinking maybe it's dependent on that. Maybe I can I avoid it that way.
