So, I've been tracking how much time I spend online masturbating -- recently, about 2-3 hours daily. (Usual session is about 4 hours, but not on every day.) That's close to 1,000 hours per year. And, for a long time, somehow, it didn't really detract from my life. But lately, it is definitely eating into my relationship with my wife, my family and with work.

I've tried to quit before. I "succeeded" once -- gave up porn for Lent and it worked. Probably a year or more before I returned to the habit. So I know that if I can get started on quitting, it becomes easier.

I'm 51 years old, married, with a 6 year old son. I am a professional with flexible hours working much from home (which makes it too easy to get distracted during the day). At this point, I am seriously behind in work assignments. I am seeing financial effects as my earnings are affected by the time lost to porn. I also feel porn time cutting into my personal interests outside of work. I've given up exercise, so I think it is affecting my overall health.

I suffer from depression and have for many years. Porn does not help in my treatment. After I am done, I quickly fall into a pattern of self-recrimination and self-loathing. I am currently trying Cognitive Based Therapy. Am thinking to add a NoFap Journal into the daily exercises intended to improve my thinking. In any case, controlling my addiction should help me focus on feeling better.
