Does anyone know how to block the installation of all programs, apps on windows 10?

On google you find results where you think there is easy solutions for this, where you think this can easily be done. But really all these do is block the installations of programs and apps that require admin privileges.

So the two ways I found were a way on the windows registry, and changing the UAC to the highest level. Again both of these do block the installation of programs and apps that require admin privileges. But they don't block the installation of programs and apps that don't require admin privileges.

So for instance the telegram desktop app. This does not require admin privileges to install. So none of these methods work for this. There is actually many programs and apps out there that don't require admin privileges to install, and like I said no method seems to block the installation of these. So I am wondering if anyone knows of a fix for this?

    @skaterdrew:
I don't know a solution for you problem unfortunately. But have you tried the nhb mode on Pluckeye? It wouldn't block the installation of a program (unless the installer needs internet access), but it would block the internet access of the program after installation.

Yeah I use the nhb feature. But I have another issue. It's not a constant problem or anything like that. But on rare occasions it has been a problem. Basically it just makes my blocking configuration not quite as solid.

Not really what you asked for, but for Telegram in particular you could just block their ip adresses in your DNS and/or hosts file. Then - even if you install their dekstop app - no content should be loaded.
I am aware, that this is an unsatifastory solution for your problem but maybe you can use it to at least to fix some specific things you struggle with.

Thanks. Does this even work if you download the telegram desktop app from a third party website?

I haven't tried it, but I think it should.

My thought process was this: I mean, the desktop app still needs to connect to the telegram servers to pull information at some point. If your request to their servers gets blocked, technically no content from their servers should find their way to your PC either (no matter if it's a desktop or web application). Maybe I'm wrong with this, I am not sure. In case you test it out, please report back if it worked or not.

Or in other words: Every request from your network must go somewhere. Whatever that destination server is, you can block the ip adress. Then, no content from that server should get to you.

Yeah through iOS supervised mode profiles. The profile is ready-made and you just have to enable the features that you need.

Does anyone know how to block playlists in the search results of youtube? I would rather all my youtube search results were just of single videos, not massive playlists of videos of the same genre.

If you take a look at the URL of youtube searches, you'll see that the ending is different if use the filter option and filter by type. I guess you could try to automatically re-route your search URL to your search URL + the ending for type "videos".

I'm not entirely sure, but I think there are browser addons that can do that. The firefox addon "BlockSite" (by Ray) does have a function to re-route while using RegEx, however you would have to add an entry for every single search term you want (which is a huge pain in the butt) and I'm not even sure it it then does what you want. I can't really think of other ways though.

So, I guess if it's just for convenience reasons, you could try something like that, but if you want that for blocking-reasons I'm unsure if this helps.

I actually use the BlockTube extension. But it doesn't seem to have this option to block playlists. I'm not sure if the BlockSite extension does. But the blocksite extension blocks other sites that I don't want. So plucky for instance. I can't actually access the chrome web store at the moment anyway.

I could manually make a huge list of channels that create huge playlists and then block them all the next time I have access to the blocktube extension options. But it is just a bit of a hassle doing that. It's annoying, because if a channel just has one of their own videos then you can easily block the entire channel. But many of these channels don't have any of their own videos, but what they do is create these stupid massive playlists of content from multiple different channels.

I think you are mistaking the addon called "Blocksite" from the company also called Blocksite with the addon called "Blocksite" made by a guy named Ray. These are two different addons. The one made by Ray doesn't block anything by default, but rather let's you add entire URLs (which isn't really useful for this use case) and also Regular Expressions and wildcards. It also allows you individually or collectively re-direct requests to different sites. So, what I meant was you could try to create a Regular expression, that redirects you search request to the URL with the ending for filter type "video". However, I'm not sure if it's possible to automate that; you can certainly do it by hand though.

But I agree, it would probably still be a hassle to set up. I can't think of a better solution though. YouTube is kinda a pain in the ass to filter as a user, because Google doesn't really give you any tools to do that properly.

Thanks. I'll maybe try that addon out the next time I have access to the chrome web store.

Yeah it would just be better if the BlockTube extension had an option to block the channel without needing to click on one of the channels videos to block the channel.

Of course you can use the safeyoutube feature using plucky etc, or you can enforce the youtube restricted mode through other means. But it blocks far more than my liking, enforcing youtube restricted mode. It blocks tons of stuff that I want to be able to see that I don't have any issues with.

Another thing I sometimes do is temporarily block https://www.youtube.com/results

then use the safegoogle feature, which doesn't bring up inappropriate youtube searches in the results, and I have basically every other search engine blocked anyway, except google. But if other search engines were a concern, you could flee word www.youtube.com

This would block the linking of most youtube videos, channels on every search engine, site etc. That's if you use plucky though.

Just some things I do sometimes that I wanted to share.

Yep, exactly my thoughts. Restricted mode is nice to have, but it overblocks way too much, just like you said. That's why I try to filter YouTube using force-installed browser addons; I used BlockSite by Ray for a while but eventually switched to LeechBlock due to a bug I encountered. It's by no means a perfect solution and it takes a lot of time to do everything by hand, but I can't really do proper filtering without RegEx at this point.

I remember for a long while youtube kept asking me for identification so I could see adult content. But the thing was it still let me see all the live streams and majority of stuff even without identification. It just mainly seemed to block content of women doing anything sexual, teasing, fetishes etc. This was perfect for me. I then blocked the URL that allowed me to add my identification.

But now youtube is no longer asking for identification to see anything, and I have really realised recently that this is a problem for me. Even with the blocktube extension it is still a big problem. There is far too much arousing content on youtube, and it is very easy to search and find tons of it. But as I said I don't want to use the safeyoutube feature, as it blocks way to much.

At the moment I have just decided to block https://www.youtube.com/results until I can figure out what to do.

Like I said when youtube was asking for identification to see adult content it worked perfectly, as it mainly only seemed to block women doing anything sexual, teasing, fetishes etc, and then with the tiny amount that did get through, I could just use the blocktube extension for this. But now with youtube no longer asking for identification, it is a problem. It just goes to show you though that youtube it's self must have an extremely good filtering system. The way they were able to filter the majority of sexual content of women, women teasing, fetishes etc, yet everything else was being allowed. I just wish there was a filter like this you could use all the time for youtube.

On my Smart TV it's like that when I am not logged into my account. You could try that, although that means that you would lose all the functionality that needs an account in order to work. I guess you have to decide what's less of a pain in the ass.

Yeah I think it would be too much of a pain in the ass lol. I don't think you can watch livestreams etc unless you're logged in.

It's still a pain in the ass, but I think just blocking the youtube results and forcing safesearch on google might work best for me. I have noticed when you try to search youtube videos on google while the safe search is enforced it does block the inappropriate youtube results.

Hi there, first time posting on this forum. I've been trying to block porn on my devices for a while but as a kind of "advanced" user it's really difficult to block every loophole in my setup. I saw you guys are using Apple Configurator on macos to supervise mobile devices, so am I, but I'm wondering how to lockdown this app after I have applied profiles to my iPhone and my iPad. I tried a number of methods without success... did anybody have the same issue?
