okay so after finding that a few people wanted to chat about TV. Especially after David Tennant was mentioned. I thought I'd post a thread where people can say what TV they're into. Like I said, Tennant is optional but you definitely get brownie points for including him in some way. Anyway, currently me and the husband are watching the latest series of Grimm, after blitzing through Jessica Jones in one weekend. Still keeping up with the walking dead even though I'm really tired of the whole 'humanity has gone to shit' storyline. More zombies please. We're also checking out American horror story, the hotel. Not sure about lady gaga at the moment but I'll give her a chance. Have. Huge Dr who obsession which is pretty ongoing. Although I really don't like cappaldi. We even had a Dr who themed wedding. It was epic.

  2. Okay so I'm super jealous of your Doctor Who wedding. haha that sounds amazing.

Some of my all-time favorite shows...
Doctor Who (duh), The Following, Friends, The Office, Psych, Monk...

    Currently watching...
Vampire Diaries, Once Upon a Time, The Walking Dead (haven't caught up yet with that one though), Survivor, Switched at Birth, Brooklynn 99 (Best new show I've seen in a longgg time. It's just hilarious every single time.), Revenge...

And there are like. A million others. But that's all I can think of at the moment.

And yeah, I wasn't a huge fan of Cappaldi at first. But I honestly think the problem (at least for me) was less about the actor and more about the writing. The whole first half of season 8 was just really really different. I don't like how they've been changing the Doctor's character so much. Throughout all of his generations, his personality changes in tiny little ways, but he doesn't usually change this drastically. I mean, 12th Doctor has said things about humans basically being stupid and worthless, which is like... totally the opposite of everything the Doctor stands for.
I could go on forever. haha I've been meaning to blog about Doctor Who Season 8 to vent my frustrations, but I haven't gotten around to it yet.

Also I love that you love Donna Noble :p She was totes my fav, for the same reasons you mentioned. I love Clara, too, though, because she's so strong and she doesn't put up with the Doctor's crap (kinda like Donna). She keeps him in line and I feel like she can keep up with him. I wish there had been more episodes with Clara and Matt Smith, though.

Yes I agree. I did like Clara but I don't think there was any chemistry between her and 12. Which I think is part of the reason the new series wasn't as enjoyable. Last weekends episode was really good though. I don't know if you watched it yet? Tennant will alwYs be my doctor though. I adore him. I saw him do Hamlet in Stratford and he was just simply an amazing actor.

Brooklyn 99 is awesome. I LOVE captain Holt. Tried to watch once upon a time but got bored after series 1. I also forgot about izombie which I am loving. We're also watching master chef the professionals, which is always enjoyable.

  4. Yes, Tennant is my Doctor, for sure :) And no, I don't have cable or BBC or anything, so I typically have to wait like... a year for Doctor Who :/ Until it comes on Netflix. I'm definitely warming up to Capaldi, though, so that's nice.

And yes, Captain Holt is hilarious and amazing. haha Idk if you've been watching recently, but I thoroughly enjoyed him and Rosa bonding over their emotions. ;)
Also, I had the same problem with Once Upon a Time, actually. I watched the first season a few times, and every time I got a few episodes into season two and got bored of it. But now that my husband watches it too, I've stuck it out, and it got better, I think.
Masterchef is pretty cool, too. I haven't seen it in a while, but I'm a big Ramsay fan.

Okay... Netflix, Watching Gotham, Heroes (as per suggestion by Jae), BoJack Horseman and Jessica Jones. I'm also interesting in suspenseful horror flix like Shutter Island. I've watched some on Netflix but would appreciate any recommendations. I've watched a good chunk of Arrested Development and Sons or Anarchy. I liked Katey Sagal in SOA. Also, Jason Bateman who was in AD plays a great role in the movie The Gift. Prettiest woman actresses, Katherine Zeta Jones and Kate Beckinsale.

  6. The Gift was really interesting. So many different elements an twists to that film. It was really well written.
@Handzfree have you seen Harper's Island? I'm not sure where to find it now days, cuz I have it all on DVD. But it's a 13 episode miniseries. It's super suspenseful, and really uniquely interesting. Every episode is like watching a new horror movie. Also, one of my absolute favorite shows is The Following, which is really suspenseful. The first two seasons are on Netflix. I'm not sure when season 3 will come to Netflix. Unfortunately it was cancelled, but it still ended fairly well. There is some really fantastic acting in tht show, particularly a guy named Sam Underwood, who is now, by far, my favorite actor. He's really talented.

  7. Also, if you haven't seen them already, the first two Insidious movies are some of my favorite horror films. Third one was okay, but definitely not on par with the other two.

Have you seen oculus? It has Karen Gillian in it and I thought it was quite good. Sort of a horror suspense film. The following was awesome. Especially the first series. American horror story is pretty good. The first two series especially. Don't watch too many films really. I tend to be more of a series girl. If you like Tennant and suspense/detective shows, broad church was excellent. Series one was better than two. I'm not sure if it made it to the states though. Of course I don't know where you're from but I'm in Britain. It was a British show so I don't know if you could get hold of it.

  9. My husband was just telling me about Broad Church, so I think we have it in the U.S. Oculus was pretty good too, for sure. Though Karen Gillan's attempt at not sounding Scottish kind of made me laugh a bit. Haha not the best American accent I've ever heard. That movie didn't really scare me as much as I had hoped, but it was definitely a unique plot.

Another vote for Broadchurch (all one word if you're searching for it) here, excellent tv. Also a Dr Who fan, and going against the grain loving what Capaldi is doing with the character. My favourite British show of recent years was Channel 4's Utopia, fantastic stuff. Humans was good too. Recently there great BBC drama called Doctor Foster, loved that. Currently enjoying Fargo.

Hi Dire, yeah I saw Oculus...pretty good, also saw Stonehearst Asylum and Babadook. Babadook sounded silly, but it was pretty intense.

I'll check out Harper's island. I tried watching Americsn Horror but the first show featured a teenage girl being asked to remove her knickers by a ped.. Turned me off immediately. Watched all of Futurama... One episode about Frye and Leela being trapped in time by themselves was great. The got married, grew old and we're finally rescued...only to agree to do it again. Brought me to tears. I'll look into Broad Church too... Thanks everyone.

Oh yeah... Saw both insidious movies too... Both good.

  13. Yeah, I was gonna say, American Horror Story, for me personally was like wayyy too much sexual stuff. Lol unfortunate because it seems interesting, but I'm just steering clear of that one.

Gotta try Fargo, I've heard great things about that one. And I totally forgot about Law and Order! SVU is probably one of my top 5 favorite shows.

  15. David Tennant is never optional :p.

I'm a huge fan of Adventure Time. Keeping myself updated with that by watching online. I also broke down and finally watched the new reprisal of Ghost in the Shell- Arise. Wasn't bad, but nothing like Stand Alone Complex. Nothing can beat the Laughing Man arc.

Donna was totally my fav as well! Such snark! Haha! The relationship between her and the Doctor was just the best. After her I think Amy is my favorite. Don't know much Clare or 12. I stopped after the big "who is River Song" reveal season. Right before the anniversary episode. Heard that was horrible, BTW. I haven't been able to screw myself up to watch it yet. Heard a lot of people were angry and dissapointed about it.

As for live tv shows, I've recently watched the Americans and Hannibal. Hannibal was good, if you care for gruesome cannibalistic artistic sculptures. And the Americans is very suspenseful. I'd recommend both. I haven't been keeping up with them, though, so no knowing about what the new material is like.

  16. Hannibal's one I've been meaning to try.

  17. Okay question I've been curious about, but please don't answer if it'll be trigger-y.

Has anyone here seen Don Jon? I never saw it because I knew it would be full of sex. At first I was kind of angry that it even existed, because I thought it was just further glamorizing porn, but after hearing Joseph Gordon-Levitt's vision for it, I actually thought it seemed kind of interesting and respected him for making such a statement. I still don't want to watch it, because it obviously has a lot of sex in it (kind of a shame they couldn't get the message across without including all that...), but I was curious if the message actually comes across, or if it's just another movie about sex and porn?

  18. It's an amazing movie that a lot of us can relate too. it's kinda weird too but good. And yeah it has a lot of triggers

  19. Yeah, I kinda figured with the triggers. lol I don't think I'll ever end up watching. I saw one, pretty mellow scene and it was like whoa! hah but I'm a big JGL fan after that, for sure. He's a really cool person.

  20. Thanks for sharing and shame are some other movies that are aiight, both got some triggers ofc
