Day one has officially started - be that in very early hours in the am - nonetheless this will be the first real thread on the topic which is basically about codependency on other things to prevent the "Fap attack" as I like to call it.

When I used to smoke my biggest incentive to try and quit would be that it would make my fitness goals substantially more difficult (being tired of my weight etc.) and thus through the process of logical and rational decision making as well as the initial willpower to get things rolling I was committed to stop for good, and I have, going on 9 months now.

However the other things that kept me ciggy free was indulging in other pleasures such as alcohol, video games and more importantly masturbation and porn.

My point is, is although I am talking about addictions here it is really a thread about how I will able to prevent myself to indulge in other detrimental things to simply feel something that will compensate for another feeling that I get from wanking and emotional satisfaction from objectifying women - as bad as that is.

Admittedly I am currently unemployed which as people would expect gives a bit more time for the mind to wander and is something that will change in due course, I try to keep myself occupied in the meantime but the feeling can just arise unexpectedly (no pun intended) however prior to this - and in the here and now, it has always been a problem - In a manner of different ways- which I will mention down line on my journey.

Any ideas to help with sustaining nofap
    without codepending on other crap?

Start new habits to replace the older ones, when you feel like indulging in an old habit you know its your cue to do the new one instead. Make sure they're positive ones that they are going to improve your life. Exercise, reading, a new hobby. When you feel like you can't be arsed don't think about doing it, do it, action generates more action. Get out the house and do something even if its just walking around, drive or catch the train/bus to another town or city and explore.

    Hi Josh,

I'm really glad you started this thread as I can smoothly relate to this issue.

As you can see on my counter, I decided to fight and quit two addictions at the same time and therefore this is my very personal opinion: in addition to starting new habits and filling your free time with creative and healthy activities, don't forget to look after the mental side of the whole issue. First of all, be strictly focused on the goals you wanna achieve and the benefits you know you'll get from quitting both PMO and smoking. Success stories here teach us there's a better life at the finish line! Secondly: try to clear your mind and thoughts with meditation or prayer (if you're a religious man), 'cause a more relaxed and joyful brain makes the 99% of our struggles.

I'm a mess at writing but I really wanted to inform you about the things currently helping me with both of my streaks. On this forum you can find tons of threads with golden tips and information on physical and mental exercises.

    Wish you all the best!
