You can do it, all! I know how difficult it is...I was once in a place where I felt hopeless and could never be porn-free. But here I am.

Here are some tips that helped me along the way:

    1. Have a reason to be porn-free, besides just porn-free. It keeps you motivated and not feel like it's a pain to abstain.

    2. Learn new things. Try those new hobbies you always wanted to do, and start goals based on that. They will keep you busy and distracted, so you won't be tempted to relapse as much.

    3. Keep your eye on the prize. There are times when life gives you lemons, and you feel like you want to relapse to cope. When that happens, take a deep breath and remember why you are doing nofap in the first place. Also reach out here for encouragement if you feel you need it. Lots of great and supportive people here!

Hope that helps. Keep up the good work!

I see nobody has commented, but I'm really happy for you! Do you think you could write a few lines about how you progressed and what signs of recovery/benefits you experienced and when? These things are always interesting for others (like me) on the same journey.

    Bravo!

Being porn free is irrelevant. What’s important is whether you’ve abstained from M and O.

It is not irrelevant comrade, it is a fundamental part of our journey. Even if ones continue with M and O, if he does not indulge himself with P anymore, it is a big win.

That is very impressive. Can you tell us what changes you have seen in yourself during this time. Do you have better confidence, super powers, more energy etc?

It’s not a win at all. There is no winning for someone who masturbates.

Why do you care so much? What is the point in gate keeping this website? If OP decides that they are free enough to decide what they want to do with your life why should you even respond lmao

What I think you're not realizing is that for many, including myself, pornography was specifically a problem - it takes up time, creates bad impressions of women, escalates to extreme and violent content, etc. Removing that from one's life is worthy of praise.

What you say about stopping masturbation is true in that I believe it would be better to abstain, but your comment comes off like "yeah you quit that addiction but you still drink soda, until you quit that too you you're a loser", which is a bad attitude and doesn't align with the spirit of this community in my opinion.

pornography was a problem because you masturbated to it. Did you ever think about that? I'm quite sure that you didn't watch porn without masturbating. If you did, you would find porn has very little affect, other than that it will eventually invoke your desire to masturbate, which will then cause problems for you. Your analogy doesn't hold any weight. It's more like "yeah you quit eating mcdonalds, but you still eat subway."

I strongly disagree with your opinion and I believe the data is against you, but it's ok if we don't see eye to eye. Best of luck on your journey.

If it is not for edging and masturbation, who in the world would consume porn???? The very reason somebody watches porn is to get tensed up and fap!

If you are a person who eagerly watches porn but doesn't feel an ounce of arousal then I understand your perspective. But most people here are addicted to consuming porn as much as they are addicted to M and O. Therefore, I feel it is crucial to abstain from Porn, Masturbation and Orgasm to do justice to rebooting process.

    Have a nice day :) !

Thread got toxic pretty fast, but in any case congratulations on two years. That's a pretty commendable achievement for someone who thought they could never be porn free. Here's to 3 years for you, and hopefully my first full year of no pmo(since starting this nofap thing anyways).

The data? Can you show me the data on what percentage of porn users watch it without masturbating?
That is exactly my point. People on this site are putting the cart before the horse. If you don’t masturbate, you automatically won’t watch porn. The same is not true for the opposite (not watching porn doesn’t lead to not masturbating). When you focus your attention on not masturbating, you will reap the full rewards of abstinence, and be much less inclined to watch porn. When you focus on not watching porn, you will still find a way to masturbate. I don’t know why this is such a controversial stance.. it’s pretty much common sense.

Good question! Honestly, it was dating that motivated me to quit porn and masturbation. Finding a partner that I may eventually have to answer to has encouraged me to improve myself in so many ways, from working out to becoming more social and well-rounded. I can't remember when I started feeling recovery, but it got easier to resist temptation about a few months in. At some point, I stopped thinking about porn and masturbation as if they're demons I have to fight every day (about several months in, I think.) Of course, I've had days where temptation struck back, such as after a breakup, but I wouldn't have resisted it in such a vulnerable time if I didn't have a long-term goal in mind (in my case, finding the love of my life and having a happy marriage that's not hampered by porn/masturbation.)

I guess if there's one thing to take away from my experience, it's this: Have at least one long-term goal in mind and stick with it. Whatever your reasons for quitting PMO, don't stop pursuing them. Because if you lose sight of your goals, you may feel like "what's the point?" at some point in time...

I'm sorry I wasn't clear in my OP; I've quit masturbation as well. As for orgasm, it's sort of n/a to me as I never had sex (and will not have sex before marriage.)

Definitely better confidence and self-esteem. If you mean that I can lift Thor's Hammer, no, but it has given me energy to progress on bench-press. ;)

Thank you! I appreciate that. You are doing so well, yourself. Keep it up! :)

Thank you! Welcome, and here's to your first year as well! :)

You read my message wrong, friend. For me, from my experience, when I don't consume porn I'm fine and do not masturbate.

But I understand that the strategy which works for you - abstaining from masturbation so you are not tempted to consume porn. I see that this line of thinking is working for you, which is great! I respect your perspective and strategy!

Here's to your redemption, let us all make the best of the coming year! good luck! :)

This is a silly thing that you have written, you've made something very black and white that is more complicated than that.

Many people find that it's the porn that leads to overdoing it with masturbation.

For example people who are addicted to porn might find themselves edging to porn for 6 hours with extreme fetishes and HD videos. This will be very different than masturbating "normally".

Nobody is trying to convince you to masturbate, but saying that being 100% porn free is irrelevant is very silly. There are a lot of people on this website who have testified to feeling much better as a result of quitting porn even if they still masturbate.

You do not need to oversimplify just because you are on the internet :)
