Unfortunately, I watched porn after 87 days of Hard Mode. Will it reset the rewiring of my brain?

Hi, unfortunately I watched porn for about 10 minutes, after my 87 days of Hard mode. But I didn't masturbate at all, even if I was on the edge! I didn't even touch myself. I just stared at the video for about 10 minutes. So my question is will it completely reset my brain rewiring progress? What impact it will have on my mind? Please someone clarify.

No it won't, especially if you've been making changes in your lifestyle and way of thinking. PMO, like any other bad habit or addiction, will cause your brain to try and "trick" you by going into the rituals, behaviors, and old thought patterns that led up to you doing that undesired behavior, you caught yourself though and didn't touch yourself, so you should be good. But if you keep doing that, you eventually will slip up and if you haven't done any real self-improvement over that streak, you're at a huge risk to fall back into your old habits.

What type of self-improvement?

What type of self improvement you say? Well there’s many options to choose from! Exercising, eating healthy, getting on the right track in life (going back to school/learning a trade, pursuing career goals etc.) learning a new skill or hobby, dating, making new friends, spending more time with current friends and family etc.

all in all, You mean distracting/not thinking much about porn?

It will have re-established your neurological PMO pathways, porn/dopamine response etc - but due to the healing you've done, you will recover from it faster than you would have before (if you manage to stay away from it). It is a set back but you can get right back on track. Don't look at it again!

That’s exactly right! If you’re busy doing something else, as long as it’s productive, you’ll stop think less and less about porn. And there won’t be a void left from giving up porn, like any addiction if you don’t find other things, such as hobbies or working towards your life goals to fill that void, you’re at a high risk for relapse. More than likely you will not only relapse, your habit of PMO will eventually come back much worse than what it ever was.

I’ve been there and done that. It’s scary how powerful of an addiction it can be and the control it can have over you. By the time you realize it’s a problem, it’s usually embedded in your brain by then and you have to fight tooth and nail, inch by inch to overcome it. While I’ve been able to hold down a full time job with no gaps in my employment, stay physically fit, and go to school, my social and dating life are nonexistent (I only hang out with my brother and cousin) , and I haven’t nearly achieved as much as I would’ve liked to at 27. Looking at it now, PMO has played a huge role in holding me back.

It will set you back of course, because you refreshed the old paths in the brain you want to get rid of...but definitely it won't put you into stage one. Not to worry, but try to not to do it as you will always set yourself back. 10 minutes is quite a long time for the brain to create new fantasies and paths that you will struggle later with to get rid of.
