I am 62 and was wondering if some of you older guys that have been on nofap has experienced some of the so called super powers that the younger guys are talking about, also those of you who have experienced pied, how long it took you to recover?

I cannot comment on PIED, and I have to say the super powers are mostly fictional. But ...
    1. I now feel proud that I can make positive change in my life, and
    2. I no longer feel like a hypocrite (I've always known that my porn use was wrong)
Those two factors do make a big difference, perhaps a super power?

PIED much improved in first month, but still some issues after 1.5 years.

I'm 37 and my longest streak with NoFap, about a year ago before a pretty bad relapse, was around 90 days. I can't say I experienced many vast improvements in mood, energy, etc but I do think that you are able to focus more on other activities and goals when you aren't spending so much time on PMO. I personally have wasted full work days, or full days off of work that I've taken for other reasons, with PMO and then just felt like crap afterward and full of regret.

Positives I noticed were better sex with my wife, more intense orgasms and quicker recovery. I also got morning wood for the first time in I don't know how long. I was also more affectionate and attentive to my wife because I was not worried she'd want to have sex after I had PMO'd all day and was spent. I'm free to show her the affection I want and happy if it turns to sex.

I did find myself (and do even now after 5 days 'sober') feeling a sense of clarity and motivation to 'get things done' which I never had/have when deep into the PMO cycle. That is one of the biggest day to day differences I notice. For me being productive, seeing positives like a clean house or office or cooking at home 5 nights a week, makes me feel good and positive, which only helps keep me away from PMO. I used it a lot for escape, and I just try to focus on things that truly make me feel happy, content and fulfilled.

I'm looking forward to making it much farther than 90 days this time, and hopefully for good.

sbank, welcome to one of the most incredible forums on the web.

I am very close to your age. I certainly had some PIED coming into this. My first streak I did experience some real positive effects, at least initially: an energy boost, sex drive through the roof, and some of the greatest times with my wife I can remember. I am experiencing a bit of a flatline right now, but other than that, the overall positive effects have been great. In my case, it's still a rollercoaster, up and down. I enjoy the downhill ride of course, but I can also find the uphill wait strangely peaceful when I just go asexual, and all that sexual tension disappears for a few days. I kinda feel like a ten year old when that happens, but I don't worry about it.

Every guy is different. PIED and flatline (esp zero libido) can be hard to distinguish, plus which, some of us start (at 60 and up) to have legitimate physical issues with the plumbing (which ED drugs can help). I am doing a 5mg daily generic right now which helps with both ED, and prostate symptoms.

So there is no "typical" answer, sorry. But I encourage you to stick with it for at least a couple of months. It is worth it. And don't get discouraged if your junk just doesn't seem to be there anymore, or actually shrinks a little. It will come back.

We are fortunate: by the time "cyber hyper porn" (my term) came around, our brains weren't so easily rewired. The guys who have gone through adolescence with that often face a very, very difficult journey to get free. My heart goes out to them.

    Hope this helps.

Hey thank you for your reply, I did read younger guys tend to take longer, at 23 days so the only thing I see now is feeling a little mean ,could be just getting old but plan on toughing it out, so glad I found this forum

I'm 45 years old have, the addiction for about 35 years. I'm 7 days into my nofap.

I'm on the same boat with everybody else starting out years ago with Sears catalogs, no high-speed internet so maybe my brain is not as bad as I think it is, because I have had zero urge to relapse once I actually decided to quit looking at anything.

It may take a little bit for it to hit me but right now I feel pretty confident till I can make this streak last. I just hope I did can do this for myself and for my wife of 22 years.
