Videogames are boring now?

I also spent many years (read: wasted) playing video games. From Atari to PS1 to PC. Now I'm like.. what a waste of time. When you get older you also start caring more about stuff. And of course your 'future' life. Especially when you start living on your own, your bills to pay increase tenfold. People get more demanding over time. Expectancies from family and people. You see people starting to live together, get kids etc.. and you think to yourself.. why the hell am I still wasting my time playing video games? There's more to life than fiction. Sometimes I watch replays of games from my youth on Youtube and I will feel terrible. I could've gone out and socialize, meet girls, learn new stuff hobbying, but instead I chose to shut my eyes, ignore my feelings and problems and emerge myself into a world that wasn't real. Many of my gaming hours were played alone. Guess what I am now, alone, and lonely!

This is why I try to only play games I genuinely enjoy, as opposed to just playing for the sake of doing so. That way, I dont feel like I am wasting my time. The problem with this is a lot of the time a game wont reveal its true colours to you until you are far enough in that the sunk cost fallacy starts to work on you, something I am particularly weak to.

Despite all I have said on this thread, I dont think ALL games are a waste of time. For example, I've been playing Yakuza 3 recently and I love it, I love all the Yakuza games and genuinely do feel like I get something out of them beyond simply burning time away.

I don't think so. People who used to play before old games can say like that. But I suppose games are getting more interesting. We just miss old ones

I've tried to get into DMC many times and have never been able to, I even went as far as playing all of DMC1 and a decent chunk of 3 and I enjoyed it up to a point but I just dont like the combat system, theres something about it I just strongly dislike that I ant quite put my finger on. Meanwhile I love Bayonetta, so go figure.

I have also played Deus Ex, played it back in 2011 and enjoyed it a lot.

Deus Ex Human Revolution is very good, but one of my favourite games ever is the original Deus Ex.

Someday I'll play Deus Ex Mankind Divided as well, but I'm more into older games (plus I don't have a PS4 or Xbox One lol)
