The video shows two 15-year-olds engaged in sexual activity at a party in 2015. The two boys who filmed it were prosecuted several years ago, but now, 1,004 young people who shared it on Facebook Messenger face charges that could haunt them for years.

In the fall of 2017, Facebook became aware of the video and notified authorities in the U.S., who then passed the information to the Danish police. This case may be playing out in Denmark, but Tania Dethlefsen with the Danish Family Planning Association says it could be happening anywhere.

Teens are unlikely to stop sharing photos and video anytime soon, and Dethlefsen says that's why society needs to make the rules clear.

I hate to be pessimistic but I bet there are far more who are not being prosecuted, and this may slow it down but will not stop it. They probably don't have enough resources to throw at it when it's the norm.

  2. Lmao you know this reminds me..

In highschool, every year some guy would streak the homecoming pep rally. The same assholes would get caught and always do it during the pledge of allegiance. Everybody would videotape it.

10 minutes back in class a voice recorder of the principal would say "a student has streaked the field and is in custody. Anybody with video evidence is in possession of child pornography and anybody who shares this video online is distribution of child porn, all will be charged."

Everybody just laughs and carries on w their business.

I bet this case in Denmark will be thrown out (except the videotapers). They are all around the same age I'm assuming. It's ridiculous to charge them with "child porn."

The 2 girls decided to have sex in the open party, they aren't victims. They're just stupid.

  3. It would be laughable if all 1,004 children get charged with child porn possession. But then again, I don't know Denmark's laws.

Just think about how unethical that would be

  4. It's just possible that you've entirely missed the point.

This terrifies me! In my porn surfing and occasional downloading, I've tried hard to avoid anything that could even be construed as child pornography. That's not something that appeals to me anyhow, but I still worry that some model who looks 30 may actually turn out to be a very physically precocious 17-year-old.

A friend of mine works at a high school. He told me recently about a sophomore girl who came to see him and talk about her virtual S&M relationship with a junior boy. Mostly they just exchanges pics and texts. But that made me think, Hey, what happens in a year or two when that boy turns 18? Suddenly he'll be an adult and his phone will be full of kiddie porn. If he even accidentally sends or shares one of those pics, he could get in to serious trouble. Sometimes the modern world is just too complicated for me!

  7. Young teens are fucking crazy, I remember one girl in eighth grade climbed on a desk and fingered herself in front of the whole class. Someone recorded her on one of the first phones with a camera and put it online, she got expelled.

  8. Wowzers! I think a young person acting like that needs to be followed up on and maybe receive counseling, not school expulsion. She may have gotten that behavior from being molested by someone in her family.

Young teens have always experimented with things like that. Just look at all the posts on this forum about when people started masturbating for the first time. That said, I don't know how many (if any of them) were silly enough to do it in front of the whole class. I guess that seems to be the problem with "smart" phones and social media these days. Back in 80s and 90s, if two teens wanted to "experiment" they would usually go behind a shed or somewhere secluded. Of course, there were always rumours going around about "who did who/what", but with no videos and no social media to share it on, the rumours were just that. And nobody ever knew if it was real anyway.

I have to ask what the parents of kids are doing these days. Why are people giving kids the means to record and share this media? If I was a parent (and thank the Lord I'm not) the first thing I'd be doing is confiscating that material. A lot of people might think that's harsh, but it's a lot less harsh than having a conviction for possessing child pornography on their record.

Its about law and society learning to deal with new capabilities and availability of technology. Like how many parents are unaware of all kinds of porn available through every smartphone. Society will adapt with time, make mistakes, make rules that dont work, make rules that seemingly work. Laws are based on intuitive concept of tangible contraband, so they can sometimes fall apart when dealing with digital media which gets duplicated, shared and created in previously unimaginable ways. Even with best intentions(which is not always the case) there is bound to be laws and procedures which are at best useless. There is no right procedure only the one most people agree its the best at specific time. Until that get sorted(which is never) be aware of these grey area cases where things can get ridiculously messy. Even accidentally getting a loli(or cp) hentai popup in your browser can get you convicted if the cops find cached images from the popup in your temp browser files. Be aware.

  11. That's easier said than done. I remember hearing someone say they could never understand why parents do anything to stop a kid from screaming. They thought if they were a parent they would never give in to the screaming but once they become a parent they started doing the very same thing as the parents they were critical of. No one really knows how hard it is to become a parent until they become one, and it very easy to sit back and judge those who have kids.

And that's one of the many reasons I decided not to have any.

But answer me this. What is easier to deal with - a screaming child, or a teenager with a conviction of possession of child pornography?

  13. Probably the former. But I don't think you'd be happy if you were stuck in a car with a screaming child for an hour.

Try being stuck on a plane near five screaming babies for 15 hours!

Yeah, you're right, it definitely doesn't make me happy. That's why I opted out of having any kids.
