Virtual Reality Porn

I'm curious... Obviously there have been a lot of studies that confirm the brain rewiring based on regular porn. I wonder if there have been any studies on VR.

Obviously this takes the issue to to a completely different level. I could actually see people harming themselves (completely raw) and becoming so addicted they will have to go through a medically controlled detox.

 

I didn't even want to read this thread I was just not interested in it until I saw one of my friends post on it. How addictive it would be. Something I would have dreamt of as being brilliant and amazing when I was young I would not choose to do now.

 

Is it really a completely different Level?
The reason why porn works so well is that the Dopamine part of the brain cant tell the difference between sex and porn. Its just reproduction to the nerve cells in the brain, sure the novelty of being virtual reality will be interesting, but as many of us are finding 2d sex more entertaining than real sex, why will virtual reality trump 2d sex. what is addictive is the act we are viewing not the fact its virtual reality, 3d , 1080p or 480p or even black and white.

Porn is just porn, hitting it with the coolidge effect is what makes us want more and more novelty. The novelty of being virtual reality will only last a short time. If reality was the top turn on we wouldn't have all of us guys fapping over 2d images while unable to get turned on with real women.

The issue will always be porn and not what you are viewing it on

 

I understand what your saying and I agree up to a point... porn is porn... There is a difference between magazines and online clips... Oldie 8mm and 1080p... The ultimate is being there in life an experiencing it...call girl? One things for sure it'll usher in a new era of porn consumption... Not quite a mainline injection.. But definitely altering. VR is already being used to help people over come their fears like acrophobia... So you know it has some real potential good and bad.

 

Oh im not saying it wont make porn more enjoyable for many, but the addictive effects will still always be what that person is viewing.

 

This only makes the incentive to quit now much greater, before this stuff actually comes out. With today's technology, and the non-existant ceiling of technology in the future, I wouldn't be surprised to see this come to life.

 

Im looking forward to VR just for the gaming aspect personally..
Socially I believe it will have a extremely negative impact on teenagers growing up with this technology, not only through the use of VR Porn but because I can see this bit of software becoming extremely addictive to even someone who has no problem with PMO whatsoever!
Its basically just an escape for people that arent happy with their real life and I for one as a young teenager would have immersed myself in a virtual world if I could have.

 

Sounds awful.. some bad addictions are on there way for this generation of young people. Its bad enough as it is, people will be falling for usb ports and cd drives.
