Waking up early to set up a new life

After an advice from a dear friend of mine, I will twist my mornings around and begin waking up at 5:30 AM. I've waking up at 10/11 (especially on holidays) and this just set me up for failure, because I had little time to relax and start my day with a smile, while also demotivating me from doing a lot during the day. I would just spend the rest of the time binging to series, video games, music, movies, YouTube videos, etc. while I should be aiming for that I wish to acquire, like more proficiency in German and Japanese (languages I'm learning), exercising, meditating, and studying for University, etc.

Has anyone picked up this habit of waking up really early in the morning? How was your experience with it? Luckily, I was never a night person so I'm more prone to doing stuff in the mornings. I remember learning Japanese very fast while I woke up early in my first NoFap streak, but that was a habit I rapidly lost and could not recover.

    Greetings from Argentina.

I get up anywhere between 4.30 and 5.30, and do my morning routine... Exercise, meditate, journal, learn something (online tutorial), cold shower... You can accomplish so much... Win the morning... Win the day! I do start to flag in the evening, but instead of watching mindless tv (or worse, porn) I go to bed, and sleep. And sleep is so much better! I used to have such insomnia, the best cure is getting up early. Search "Miracle Mornings" on YouTube for inspiration. Life changing!!

  3. Yep, been getting up at 5:30 am, sleep at 9:30pm, gym at 7:00am.

I use to use holosync meditation before bed but now I no longer need it. After a while your brain and body creates new patterns and you will sleep no worries at 9:30. Reading off a kindle or physical book helps as well.

Getting up early is good for your self esteem because your doing something hard.

If you have a strong enough reason you can do it. Keep your phone alarm away from your bed so you have to get out of bed and if you hesitate you lose. It has to be BAM and your out and sometimes it can be pain. But you got a fight through it, make your bed first thing then jump into a warm shower have your breakfast then brush your teeth. Lately what I do is watch a motivation video on YouTube off my tv via the Xbox one for half hour and then go gym and get to work after that.

Thing is brah, if you wanna be an early riser, you gotta do it 7 days a week.

Yes, it's a great habit. There is a book called "The Morning Miracle for Addiction Recovery" (not religious) that actually outlines a plan for this and puts forth the theory that we recover better when we start our days early and with the right mindset.
