I was finally able to go today more than I have in the past two weeks. I’m still having prostatitis symptoms it never fails to follow this order. 1) ejaculation (sex or Wd) - then everything feels pretty good down there for a day or so. 2) Feel pressure building inbetween scrotum and anus. This continues for about three to four days, gets worse then subsides. 3) Urinary problems flare up and weird sensations in urethra. I haven’t paid much attention oast this point but I’m writing this down here as a note for my records and also to anyone that might be going through the same thing. I keep reading so many different things about prostatitis online. Seems western and eastern medicine have huge differences when it comes to this ailment. I am going to make another doctors appointment soon and make him take some kind of culture to test for bacteria’s presence. I am learning to live with it though and come to a sense of calm about it and accept it as my new reality. Just hope one day I can maybe be back to normal. I will pray for anyone else experiencing these issues. My brain and happiness are on much higher levels since starting nofap, porn will never play a prominent role in my life again.

Did this start after you began nofap?

I had issues around a month in. They have settled since i ejaculated twice.

I was lucky because my body warned me, it seems yours didnt.

Nofap does have a place but we have to be sensible about it, i would much prefer people use their willpower to masturbate to a schedule rather than total abstinence. Lowfap as opposed to nofap.

We are often told the body absorbs excess sperm, that may be true but that doesn't account for the seminal fluids.

In the past after long periods on nofap, everytime ive ejaculated the amount of semen i have omitted has been directly proportionate to the amount of time i have abstained so i see no evidence of the body absorbing the excess as is claimed and the semen always looks stale.

  7. How's your weight, @Drummer1989? Constipation and being overweight can have a similar effect to prostatis. Also water retention. Anything that increases pressure around the bladder.

If you feel like you're sitting on a golf ball, after you check that there's no actual golf ball, haemorrhoids? They an be exacerbated by everything in the above paragraph.

Maybe try hitting the magnesium too.

I lost a lot of weight mainly to get rid of some similar problems.

@steveo2312, that’s an interesting concept, as I have ejaculated from sex and wet dreams and this is when it seems to flare up the worst. When I abstain is when the symptoms start to reside a little bit. My body gave me no warning, I just had sex with my wife one night and the ejaculation burned a little bit, then the next few days were hell. Since then it has flared up numerous times, always post ejaculation. I keep reading that eastern medicine believes that over self indulgence as I have done can permanently damage the prostate. But this seems to me that way more of us would be experiencing this once they started nofap.

@HumanBob, I am 6’-0” tall 155 pounds. My weight I think is okay, my constipation has been unrelenting recently, I’m still fighting it. The golf ball sensation only occurs a few days after ejaculation then lasts a few days then tapers off. I am really at a loss for what is going on.

Thank both of you for our replies.

Drummer, i get this really annoying pain in my anus which i know is the prostate.

Funnily enough i get it if i ejaculate too much or in nofaps case i get it if i ejaculate not enough.

I'd like to get it under control to complete a 90 day hard mode reboot.

    Good luck in your situation

I remembered how it was last two times when I had an orgasm after finishing 90 days in hardmore. First orgasm was very painful both times and pain persisted for a day or two, to the point I was scared to have second orgasm. It felt like semen fluids got stuck and couldn't get out. Things normalized after few orgasms. I don't know how it will be this time around, based on my past experiences, I'm not looking forward to it. Celibacy for a prolonged period of time is probably not the best thing for our bodies. However, I think this problem would be nonexistent, if I had sex once or twice a week.

Drink 2-3 glasses of fresh water when you wake up to get your metabolism started early, then have a glass of water every hour (warmed sparkling water with Mg is even better - half glass every 2 hours will do), drink Turkish coffee 2-3 times a day and start running 30-60 min a day. If this doesn't help in a week you might have some medical condition and should see a doctor.

Started Magnesium yesterday... And i can feel its symptoms now. Urine retention :(

  14. nofap does have beneficial effects on a person's hormomes. that could be the reason why so many people experience reduction in hair fall when on nofap

You should see urologist. That's not normal.

  17. @Guysavi @Drummer1989 I assume you're getting enough fibre in your diet. 30g a day minimum. That's 30g of fibre, not 30g of food with fibre in it. You need to check the nutritional details of your food and add it up to see how much fibre you're getting. You might need up to 50g a day.

Never strain otherwise you might give yourself a haemorrhoid which is permanent and will make the problem worse, especially if it's internal.

@Drummer1989 Do you plan when you're going to have sex with your wife? Do you get stressed leading up to that? Does the constipation coincide with that? Stress can cause constipation.

What colour is your urine? If it's not clear you may be dehydrated which can cause nearly all those symptoms, including stress (electrolyte imbalance effects nervous system and then hormones) and water retention (body trying to retain any water it does have) which can cause pressure around your bladder, colon, prostate. Water retention can increase pressure on all your organs.

All these conditions can exacerbate each other so be conscious of your nutritional and fluid intake. Actually measure it.

Or don't. Remember I'm just some idiot on the internet. Maybe get a medical second opinion too. Your urologist may be some idiot in real life.

Edit: In fact here's an article from actual doctor that bears out some of the things I said, and describes some of your symptoms.
    https://www.avogel.co.uk/health/enlarged-prostate/is-constipation-affecting-your-prostate/

Also look at probiotics and good gut bacteria. Eat some yoghurt or some other fermented food (sauerkraut). Change the type you eat from time to time.

@HumanBob You seem to be well-researched. You'd also know the link between NOFAP and Dopamine deficiency and other stuff that basically links gut with Brain. What do you think about that? Because when i'm not abstaining i poop and urinate pretty okay. So i think it's related, many people had the same issue during their abstinence. Just Don't know yet whether it goes away with time or not (when the Brain is re-wired).
Plus, how did you lose weight? I ran + exercise (stomach) a lot during absistence but don't seem to cut any. I even read it's due to dopamine deficiency that slows down everything.

  19. If I used the term "research" it would only be very loosely. I'm no expert on how to research or anything else I'm talking about. I read because I'm interested. I think if you're trying to improve yourself, rather than trying to effect the tiny details like dopamine specifically, follow a healthy lifestyle. Mind, body, emotions, soul (if you happen to have one).

Your body is the expert on all the tiny details. Let it do its thing. :)

    Gut-Brain

I was going to start talking about gut-brain in the my previous post but I thought I'd better keep it simple. Yes, I've done some reading on that. There is a two way connection between gut (gut bacterial ecosystem) and brain. Trouble in one can affect the other, and then create a feedback effect. That's why you need to address both at the same time.

    Dopamine

Those systems are very complex. Dopamine is one of the neurotransmitters involved. There are others (mainly serotonin and noradrenaline). And there's the neuroendocrine systems (see cortisone and testosterone interactions), the hormones, as opposed to the neurotransmitters. It may not be that your dopamine levels are low, but that your brain is used to a higher level (see hedonic set point).

And then too much dopamine with not enough noradrenaline and serotonin to balance them can increase your anxiety.

    Weight Loss

I managed my net calorie intake. There's no other magical thing happening. Hormones, metabolism, etc, might have a minor effect, but really, I just had to count calories.

See the Harris–Benedict equation. I plugged in my details and transposed (you have to get a bit mathematical) and calculated what my net calorie intake should be.

I measured the calories, with scales and one of the food database sites in everything I ate and all the exercise I did. The food database I used was calorieking.com.au which is specifically Australian. If running, walking, or cycling, I took my phone with me with an app like runkeeper which tracks distance, speed, age, gender, and current weight (naturally you add age, gender, and current weight yourself). It then tells you roughly how many calories you burnt.

Some years ago I used to do two hours or more of hard cardio every day (two of: running, cycling, swimming. + resistance) and I was still a bit overweight. I looked at my net calories, and although I was burning 3000 cals in exercise I was also eating a lot. My weight reflected my net calories.

My weight has always reflected my net calorie intake.

    Diet

Carb intake was my main problem when trying to manage calories. Bread with any meal was pretty much doubling the calories of any meal I had. Reducing the carbs (potato (chips, mashed), pasta and rice too were issues for me) helped me manage food cravings. I believe bread actually made me hungrier, which created a bad cycle.

If you drink, know that alcohol delivers a massive number of calories. The alcohol in the beverage, not necessarily the beverage itself. That's a whole other discussion. And I've already said too much.

    Omg, I've said too much.

A quick google search of 'nofap caused prostatitis' will show you how some men just cannot cope with the abstinence and i dont mean their ability to fight the urges, i mean the prostate starts flaring up. I know this first hand because it happened to me.

Read this thread bellow right through because a urologist enters the debate.
