Hello, I'm not sure if this is the correct area to post this, but here it goes.

I'm 34 and haven't PMO since May 31st. That's not very long, I usually do it more often, but I've gone longer than this before. Anyway, last night I had a wet dream that woke me up and this hasn't happened since I was a teenager. Like I said, I've gone longer than a few days before and this hasn't happened those times. I'm not sure, but I think reading these forums and actually making a plan to abstain from PMO may have contributed to this. Has anyone else experienced this? Maybe I was focusing on it too much and my mind is resisting?

The dream was extremely pornographic in nature, but it was still just a dream, so I'm not resetting my counter or taking it as a defeat. I didn't touch myself in any way, I was ejaculating when I woke up, but my hands were not touching my body so I don't consider this to be PMO, even if the dream was pretty damn explicit. It's a little frustrating, but I'm going to continue.

Yeah this happened to me on day 7 i believe. Hasnt happened since though. Your mind craves a fix so bad that it tries to replicate it while you sleep. Scary thought.

Yeah, it is a little scary, I knew I was using PMO as a way to escape but I didn't realize how obsessed I really was. I forgot to clear my web history and a porn site came up as I was typing something else in, damn, my heart started racing because I really wanted to go there. I didn't though, I just cleared the history.

I hate that feeling. When you see a trigger that you didn't mean to see and your mind starts racing. Hard to reign it back in sometimes.
As for the wet dream, don't read into them too much. The mind filters and processes a lot of information when you're asleep so I'm sure it was working out some thoughts regarding PMO. But what happens in a dream is out of our control. I haven't had a wet dream in a while but I remember having a dream that was in no way erotic and waking up to one. The mind does some crazy stuff sometimes.

I actually I wish I would have one just for the release. Is this wrong?

I've never had one. I've always masturbated to much. Never had enough pent up sexual frustration/desire to cause one. Came close in college once. Had such an erotic dream that I woke rock hard and at full attention. But I woke up before anything happened. Had to finish it off myself. I did shoot over my head though. Pretty impressive.

I'm 16 days in and in the middle of a flatline, I think. Not much of a libido, unless I get triggered. Then it's gym and/or cold shower to cope with the strong urges. Could my coping techniques be keeping enough of the pressure at bay to prevent any wet dreams? If so, I can live with that. I would rather never experience one and succeed them stop my successful coping techniques to have one and fail. For I fear if I ever have one it would send my cravings through the roof and I wouldn't be able to resist.

    Thanks guys,
    Geyser

Yea I just had one two nights ago. There isn't really much release however, because yesterday the urges were still every much there. its really just more of a mess than anything. And not a comfortable way to spend the rest of your night.

I don't think it's wrong to wish for one, it isn't the same type of release as masturbation, but it is a way for the body to release in a way. I'm definitely not flatlining yet, I'm having some seriously powerful urges, but I'm maintaining. Keeping busy with other things helps a lot, but I still have the panic and obsessive thoughts creeping in several times daily. Nighttime is awful, I can't sleep at all now. I'm exhausted, but I still really want to release this damn stress, especially at night.

Your coping techniques could be helping to prevent wet dreams, in the past masturbating obviously prevented them, but now the techniques may be relieving enough pressure to make wet dreams unnecessary. I only had that one, and I didn't have much of any coping techniques then, I had also been reading this forum and looking at other information about porn addiction before sleeping that night, so it was on my mind.

Having a wet dream didn't increase my cravings, it actually made me want to work at this even harder, but everyone is different I suppose. 16 days is awesome, I hope I can make it that long so keep up the good work.

Yeah, it's not the same type of release as porn/masturbating, my urges didn't change at all either. It was annoying to make that mess, I already have trouble sleeping and after getting upset and changing the sheets, I couldn't really relax afterwards.

Wet dreaming is the main thing I hate about quitting masturbation. Once I quit for over a month and starting from the third week, I was wetdreaming every 4 or 5 days. It was pretty annoying, I had to buy extra underwear just to cope with it.

I want a wet dream. I have never experienced one in my life. I heard it can take months before you experience one, so you are quite lucky. :p

Like I said, it really isn't too much of a release mentally. Perhaps only a physical for a very short time. That being said, I think the wet dream is a good sign. It definitely means you have more libido or juice or something.
