What’s the deal with just normal (no porn) maturation post 100 days..?

Discussion in 'Rebooting - Porn Addiction Recovery' started by Deleted Account, Oct 14, 2020.

  1. so I’m at day 114 of a sudden NoFap streak. Hadn’t planned it but suddenly found I had passed a few days so figured I’d see how long I could go. Feel good for doing it and really happy with myself but must admit I’m really wanting the release. I feel I’ve beaten my porn addiction as I used to watch it ever night and rarely had an MO without P. Now I’m happy to break my streak but I’m wondering what peoples general thoughts are about alternatives to porn. Like what’s the thoughts on guided masturbation videos on YouTube, no nudity or ‘porn’ but the audio could potentially be graphic. I don’t want to use that if it’s too similar to porn and worry that it’ll have similar psychological effects. Any thoughts/advice that people can share?

  2. Just realised I’ve probably posted this in the wrong part!

My personal experience has taught me that I shouldn't even think about it. Since it is a heavy artificial thing, after some tries (of quitting) I just didn't wanted to do it anymore because my mind, body and will realized that it was a bad thing altogether in my life. However that kind of stimulant is more easily avoided that your own penis.

If you're here it means that you took it seriously enough and you are probably prone to get hooked and to get negative results. So I would say avoid any conscious attempt to get back to it. About M itself, I think moderation and good practice of it won't harm you. It is still a heavy stimulant thing and you would be better spending that time doing something else, but if it doesn't cut something else from your life you'll be fine. As simple as that.

Give it a try. I recommend not to use porn substitutes. That means movie scenes, pictures of girl or anything that activates the same pathways as porn did. Try using your imagination or better yet, nothing at all. Just focus on the sensation and see what happens. Make a new pathway that doesn't involve porn. If you feel like you are having a relapse stop it and give it another 2-3 months masturbation and porn free, then try it again.

I say stay away from Masturbation. It will lead you back into P. You may want release, but pushing the easy button or taking the path of least resistance will eventually lead you back to P. Guided masturbation sounds like P to me anyway. Save sex for a loving relationship. Wait to have sex until you get married and make it special, something that you express to your wife only.

Not sure about “guided masturbation videos” but I think mindful masturbation may be an option. By that I mean masturbating with no fantasizing, being present and focused on the physical feeling.

personally, I’d rather not beat the meat at all. Use that energy to get a partner.

  11. I'm trying to understand your question mate. Are you asking for substitutes to use if you feel a slip at all? As a user I've been down that road to be honest. Videos are leaked on youtube and a variety of ecchie scenario's.

I feel they are still pretty energy draining. It's basically another energy Vampire but on the internet. They might want you to think those woman are doing it for you, but no they are doing it for views or youtube fame. I have an understanding allot of this with people who do ASMR. They'll pick any crewed category to real you in like a fish. Think of it this way.. They won't be drained of energy although surely they'll be draining yours. Audio can still be graphic as the visual will be imputed into your mind and released in another way. So its still harmful.

Masturbating to fantasy, in my opinion, is that same as masturbating to pornography. It will produce the same effect on the mind. It will feed the part of you that craves pornography. There is a link in your mind that connects P and M. Doing one will ignite the desire for the other.

Why do we think masturbation is okay? I haven't masturbated in many years. I have energy, I am in shape, I work hard, I have multiple healthy relationships, I sleep well. I am WAY healthier than when I used to engage in PM.

I believe that men are taught that we are entitled to sexual release from a young age. We assume that it is true and we make choices accordingly. I recently went a year with no PMO. It was the healthiest year of my life.

My advise: challenge the entitlement that makes you believe that M is a good thing. Then come up with your own conclusion.

Good point. I mean most men and women probably do it as teenagers since we’re discovering sex and our hormones are raging. But do we need to do it past that?

I think for some of us, no M is the way to go. Not sure I trust myself to masturbate in a healthy way that wouldn’t lead to fantasizing/porn.

obviously our heads won’t explode (pun intended) and apparently we can function at 100% w/o it.

  14. My question was basically, if I do choose to break my streak - would something like the audio videos I mentioned considered the same as P. I guess it depends on your mindset of different content. Something that is only audio could been seen as fine but if you link it to P in your mind then it’s pretty much going to have the same if not similar effect on your mind.
Thanks for your comment, has made me think about the reason why I’m considering using that. Won’t go down that road

  15. I agree with the start of this. After thinking/reading about this, I think it is too similar to actual P that my mind would consider it P.
    Thanks

My thoughts exactly! Unfettered sexual release is going to lead you down the wrong path. Abstinence will bring you the peace and confidence you are seeking.

Dude, if you're gonna M, do it on your own. Don't use any external tools; nothing but your two hands. Anything that goes beyond the natural wank it till you make it might be potentially triggering or escalating.

If you want to M because you feel like you truly want, go for it. But after 114 days without it, you have to ask yourself... do you really want it? If you lived without it for 114 days, why not 115?

So you'd rather go back to pmo (with p substitutes, however your brain chooses to trick you) than find a woman to have a relationship with, and actually live a normal life without an addiction? You don't see anything wrong with that?

  19. I think you may had misinterpreted what I’ve said. I would not rather go back to pmo than have a relationship with someone. I just wanted peoples thoughts on using other things such as the content I mentioned and whether it’d be considered as p.

  20. Thank tucker, appreciate your comments. I’m going to carry on for a while longer.
