    That's a spot on! :)

And thanks for this... I now have another "scientific" bullet to defend my argument.

I haven't read the whole thread so sorry if I'm repeating somethig someone has already said.

I think masturbation isn't too bad on its own, but the fact that it's linked so closely with porn is dangerous. I got into porn slowly. I started masturbating, then I slowly began to view more explicit images, etc. I never would've thought I would end up having this problem, but I did...

Anything that gives you strong, instant satisfaction or pleasure cannot be safe for mankind. Alcohol, drugs, PMO, they're all addictive which can be incredibly harmful.

Although scientists say the release of semen can be good for you, you don't need to masturbate for it to happen. Men were built with an automatic release valve (wet dreams) to prevent an unhealthy buildup of semen.

Sure masturbation may have had some beneficial effects in some study, but you can't deny the hundreds of NoFap members whose lives have improved from it. I just think masturbation is too dangerous and too hard for anyone to seriously control.

Evidence is not about masturbation. It's about experiencing the orgasms repetitively. It becomes addictive. And also, because neurochemicals are beign released during orgasms, there is possibility of mood swings. Then, if you feel down, lonely or anxious a little, you self medicate to another orgasm to get the high.
    Perfect endless circle of fapping.

There is also evidence that some frequent masturbators are loosing sensitivity and get used to tight grip, called DEATHGRIP. Those folks might have a hard time to get off inside a woman's V.

  5. I know this is an old thread but I'm just browsing and want to throw in my 2 cents .Here's the truth for all of us Fapstronauts , we are at our very core addicts of varying degrees, an addict will use anything to try and justify their addiction, even science , we are addicted to the hormones and neurotransmitters released during masturbation, some of us are addicted to the images and false perception of reality , the thing about addictions is they started as habits , now they have become excessive habits we can no longer control in moderation they are an addiction, addictions are never broken ask any member of AA, or any former smoker or drug user . All you can do is exchange a self-destructive habit for a constructive habit, all of us use this website to reassure ourselves of our personal goals , many turn to exercise or going out more to meet real people and experience things, some turn to religion/philosophy, or anything to occupy our time and keep us away from these addictions , the point is we are directing our attention and energies away from what we have all both personally and communally come to view as a self destructive addiction , but we all have varying degrees of addiction that influence our choices with NoFap some of us try to be PMO free altogether some MO free and some just P free, meaning there are those who feel they can handle their addiction better or that it hasn't reaches a certain degree that it is unmanageable, who have the confidence to feel they have enough self control to manage their addiction better rather than be completely abstinent , in the end it is a personal choice and you just have to know yourself and be realistic with yourself. As far as the evidence goes generally who can say ? a lot of studies are conducted in control groups of average people who most likely are not addicts like all of us ,they wouldn't conduct a study on the benefits of NoFap as they wouldn't conduct a study on the benefits of AA because you can't apply it to the general population we're a small part of that community( despite stats saying a high percentage of people masturbate how many do so excessively to the point it affects their entire lives negatively from a personal stand point), but still part of the reason for not conducting those kinds of studies comes from the general populations denial of our excessive lifestyles but another part of that comes from the fact we are still as individuals free to choose what to believe and not believe regardless of the consensus of the scientific community or general population, right and wrong in the context of managing our own lives and addictions is determined by us the individuals, not science and not society.

In closing I'd just like to say science has done us a lot of good and a lot of bad in so many ways but when we use it to enable a self destructive addiction I think that's more so on the side of doing us bad, I would say first look into the science of addiction and see where that fits in your life , if you're here it seems you may have an inkling it's an addiction that may be self destructive for you

For a long time science said nicotine wasn't addictive.

Science? Logic? In the Semen Retention section?! Blasphemy!

There is nothing good or bad about masturbating, it is just a thing that you can do. That would be like someone saying that rising your pinky finger to look fancy is bad for you because NoPinky.

Lol I'm sorry man..but just dont beat off and do a 48 hour fast once a month lol the state of autophagy will clean and heal your body a thousand times better than beating off will.. plus you'll heal every damaged cell in your body that needs having and will increase your lifespan.
Beating off is not a way to improve your health .. I'd rather say sprinkling calcium powder on a turd sandwich is healthy.
Just do a 2 day fast once a month.. eat healthy, drink tons of water, GET SOME SLEEP and WORKOUT. Having willpower is a lot more important than any article telling you that beating off will save you from cancer.

One original theory I made up in my head was that: Masturbation is natural and eating is natural too and just like excessive eating excessively masturbating desensitises reward-motivation regions of the brain so that’s why things like intermittent fasting and sexual abstinence (less orgasms) basically rewire your brain to become “naturally” sensitive to dopamine again; this may explain the increased levels of motivation and energy fasting and refraining from masturbation or less orgasms cause.
