What have you replaced your PMO time with ?

  1. Hello everyone ! How's the fight going ?

    We all know that we have spent hours PMOing in the past. We all regret losing those productive hours.

    With what have you replaced your PMO time with ? What results has it shown for you ?

  2. Well, I still use porn a ton. But what I'd like to start doing more frequently is having real sex and hanging out with real women my age. Just do things to get myself out of my comfort zone.

  4. Listen, unless you yourself have completely refrained from porn use, you're an addict like everyone else on this forum. For all you know, "a ton" could mean once a week or once an hour. I left it deliberately vague. And getting women has nothing to do with watching or not watching smut. It has everything to do with your career, your livelihood and your general welfare.
     
  5. HI. I like this thread topic :).

    I made a list of small tasks such as:
    Elevate (brain training app on phone)
    Facebook/email (yes i have been checking every day and this has been surprisingly more fun than imagined)
    Minute housework (might sound stupid but this has a major effect on me)
    ..Adding stuff every time i think of it for example
    Reasearch Pleck Farm
    Explore Folk music
    Research new meals to share with family (started a Diigo shared bookmark group for me, my cousin and sister)

    Made a list of BIG task such as:
    Nofapacademy videos
    Read work related news feeds and community posts
    Research computer building components for my cousins planned new computer
    Research MO chemicals, why men attracted to women
    Research dating and social skills

    On top of this i read nofap forums every day

    Have a pile of paper in front of me where i write stuff that is giving me trouble. Hope to commit this to journal for more permanent storage but it is hard to think and write stuff :(

    try to watch the news every morning and try to use Onefootball and Flipboard(fun news stuff) apps for fun stuff to feed conversation in the day :)

    OMG all of this since i started nofap :s cripes!

    NO cold showers tho!! fk that :)

    I workout for 1 1/2 hours every morning. Combination of yoga and bodyweight excercises.
    Then I play piano 30 mins/1hour, then chinese practice 30mins/1hour, then painting 30mins/1hour
    I'm doing foreskin restoration too... that takes 20-40 mins a day right now.
    Also I'm learning how to be a good cook, it's great thing to know how to cook.
    Not only will I enjoy my food more, but if I'm hanging out with someone I can make a good meal.
    I also read for 1 hour a day, different things can be fiction or non fiction, but I usually get my books from a thrift store.
    So on my working days that's really all it take to fill my time.
    On my non working days I try to do all of those plus walk in a park, or go do yoga at a studio,
    or hangout with friends.

    Whoa, hit a sensitive spot did I? No harm meant!

    More power to you getting women, maybe the smut viewing will help the way you view and interact with females?

    And generally people use the term 'a ton' to reference a large quantity, no need to be so defensive pal. That's the last you hear from me partner, I assure you.

    i just want to say that i have my board exams now so most time goes to it then i have my competitive EXAMS
    (INDIA). but just one thing i only deviate to porn when i just fail as in i am not able to understand something in my studies i begin to loose interest in it then i underestimate myself thinking wtf can i do?? i am stupid eventually sitting idol and giving way to porn so i have to just concentrate a bit more and believe in myself but how will this come ?? thats the question??

    I have been working out more, like a lot of other people in here. 5 days a week for an hour.

    I also have rededicated myself to mindfulness meditation practice. I try to get in at least 30 minutes a day. It's a life saver.

    This is a bit tough for me to answer because my PMO is almost always at night (some time between 11:30 PM and 1 AM) or in the morning (some time between 7:30 and 9 AM.) (And on average, I PMO about two times a month.)

    This isn't time I'd be productively using for anything, anyway - it's time that I should be SLEEPING. I'm all for incorporating healthy habits into my lifestyle but my PMO is unobstructive enough that it doesn't really come into play.

    What I HAVE found is that since I've been unemployed it's very difficult to drag myself out of bed in the morning - I spend way too much time lying around doing the internet on my phone when I should just get out of bed 5-10 minutes after waking up. I am very much a morning person and not a night person at all, so the best thing to do at night is to just go ahead and go to bed as early as I can make myself. However, there have been many times where I've already turned everything off and gotten in bed to sleep when the urges hit. So it's probably better to develop a consistent habit as a sort of psychological firewall against those unexpected impulses at night.

    Getting sleep, Eating right (not so great recently), exercising, yoga, meditation, working on my graduate projects, talking to people, going on dates with read (non digital) women (much more expensive but Tons more rewarding even w/out sex), Reading, watching TV

    I am brand new to all this but I have wanted to give up porn and masturbation for a few years now and just never fully had the willpower to do it and I didn't make too big of an attempt to go look for support or help, but I tried it again and found this nofap site, this is truly amazing, I am hoping I can get some good support with staying away from it, I am 30 years old and happily married but I believe masturbation and porn makes me distant from my wife and either way I feel I should be having sex with her and nothing else, I consider this as a part of my rehab from masturbation and porn and now I am really sincere, I am thinking working out and doing things like working on my vehicles and getting them running and doing some other physical things will keep me from masturbating and of course plenty of sex from my wife, if any you have anything to share or any insight, please message me, I have some to share as well, this is just so awesome that this group exists.

    Relaxing, and really getting more into my personal self development plan. It includes spiritual practices (e.g. hypnosis, mindfulness meditation), mental enhancement (brain games, speed reading, memory enhancement), and fitness. I can't practice MMA right now due to time constraints, but I am trying to get myself in better shape when I return to it in a few months.

    On the leisure side, I've been watching food network shows, resting, listening to music, volunteering a little, and trying to kick ass at work. I'm pretty stressed right now, but after a relapse hump a few weeks ago, I've been feeling decent. I'm thankful the number below my name is actually accurate for once. This has been one of my longest pauses from PMO since Basic Training. I've kept myself open to the prospect of dating someone, but I haven't had any luck. But there's definitely a side of me that considers that to be a good thing.
     
  14. Working out, meditation and I try to get more studying done. That's about it for now, but I hope to be able to manage my time more and more efficiently as I'm progressing towards my goal.
    @SpiritMachine: I'd like to get into speed reading as well, do you know any good ressource for that?

    Started working out to keep me from pmo'ing which led to healthier eating and no alcohol or smoking to increase gains. I also have more time to read and talk to people more instead of shying awaway.

    What I've replaced my PMO time with is creating a personal blueprint, (about six goals to work on throughout the year), and focusing a certain amount of time on each one, each day. By the end of the day, I'm so filled up on completing my goals that my confidence level is too high for me to entertain PMO. Of course, I'm still tempted at times, but this practice has been very rewarding!

    Hey man. After reading your post, I came up with a suggestion that may or may not be helpful for your situation. Is it possible for you to place your phone in another room in your house to avoid being on it while in bed? It could be that your brain is conditioned to you being on your phone, then PMO'ing. Maybe switching up a little may be effective. Wish you the best of luck man!

    Down the street there is a MMA and Taekwondo studio.. I'm going to join. Day 9 of no PMO and I feel great.

    Hey Dr. NoFap. MMA is something that I would be mildly interested in. Admittedly though, I'm a bit intimidated and uncomfortable to join. I'm 30 years old, and have never been in a fight, so to practice MMA/Taekwondo, seems a bit embarrassing. What has been your experience?
