I'm tryna recover from porn addiction and fapping since I started i had some wins and lot of losses

Reading the book YourBrainOnPorn was a game changer for me. It goes into the whole subject of P addiction and really helps in understanding how P affects us.

Other than that:
Going on long walks
Talking to friends
Hobbies
Talking on this forum
Thinking about where I want to be and how porn is holding me back.

But the big one for me was reading that book. Once you read and understand what’s happening in your brain when you’re addicted to porn it made me want to quit.

Also getting near to rock bottom was a turning point.

“Change happens when the pain of staying the same is greater than the pain of change” - Tony Robbins.

You may not be at rock bottom but don’t wait to get there to decide to change.

Meditation/Mindfulness/Healthy & Fulfilling Hobbies - such as learn to play an instrument, new work-outs, cooking, reading, meditative walking, drawing.

There is nothing like avoiding TV, social media, video games, media in general, internet, etc. for a period of time, then sitting down and watching a show, it's like 10x more enjoyable, because you balance high dopamine activities, that way, when you engage in them, they are actually fulfilling.

I don't partake in dopamine detox, but I do focus more of my attention on activities that are naturally rewarding and thus release normal amounts of dopamine. So then when you engage in a higher dopamine activity (in moderation) it is really enjoyable, it's a nice treat.

Hii bro

You talked about about alot of things and i will try them out but you talked about dopamine levels I've heard about it before

Is it connected to the urges we get we do watch porn or fap? Our brain wants dopamine so if we get from other sources it'll take away the urges? Something like that?

Can you please explain?

Many great suggestions have been brought up here, but in my opinion, the number one tool to stay sexually sober will always be the 12 step Sexaholics Anonymous program. Its very uncomfortable, which is why so many people never even consider it, but I believe that the VAST majority of people with this addiction would be LIGHT YEARS beyond where they are in their recovery of they truly gave SA an honest try and worked the 12 steps of recovery.

But that's just me.

Hi, If the book would be a problem because of ordering and privacy then check out the website Ill link it LINK

I wouldn't say I was complete rock bottom but it was a bit like:
Low mood/ Depression
Anxiety/SA
anxiety and panic attacks
isolating myself
low energy
neurotic

It wasn't solely due to P addiction but a big part of it. Quitting P can massively improve your brain function but you need to look at all areas of your life.

Check out the website or I just remembered he has a video on YouTube which is brilliant. Here's the link to that. LINK .

Yes, your brain essentially craves the hit of dopamine that porn provides.

But over time that constant artificial hit of dopamine destroys many functions of the brain.

Performing healthier tasks like exercise, meditation, learning a new instrument, etc. over time will help over write the old bad neuropath ways like watching porn in your brain with new positive activities that release good dopamine. This is only 1 piece of the puzzle. Simply doing these tasks, alone, will not be enough to quit a porn addiction.
