What is your opinion about masturbation (without the use of pornography) ?
Do you think that we have to avoid doing it at any cost?
Or maybe, if we do it in moderation then it's okey?

Feel free to share whatever comes in your mind!

I think it’s lame and don’t know why anyone would want too. What’s the point of willingly giving up your energy for no reason at all.

  3. It's a very involved and tiring process going off of your own imagination. And tbh, if you only have yourself to look at while doing it, it's a bit of a turn off (unless you think you look sexy then, good for you?). Yeah it is lame.

I think we have to avoid it because it can cause problems with sexual relations with another person. We're prone to death grip and that causes problems.

I don't believe that masturbation is always wrong. If a man is having a girl come on to him and it is sure that she wants to fornicate with him, I would say that it's OK to go into the washroom, go into a stall and masturbate. This is done in order to prevent himself from falling into fornication. However, if someone is watching TV in their room and they suddenly get a desire to masturbate, I would say that that is wrong. He/she must exercise self-control.

I believe that viewing pornography while masturbating is much worse than masturbating while using mental images. I believe that it's always a sin to view pornography.

  5. I think masturbation is wasting your energy. Especially if it is not pleasing a loved one such as a wife. I would much rather use the energy and knock out some push ups or sit ups.

Still bad, wasting energy and time, still causing dopamine rush, much people do just M and after some time they are going back to P because after some time M is not enough to create pleasure.
My opinion is if you do nofap,do hardmode.

If you search the forums for this topic, you’ll get tons of threads, that’ll give you quick information about this vastly debated topic.

And, MO is useless. Draining kcal of energy for a pleasure for an infinitesimal amount of time? No!

  8. I really don’t think playing with yourself at all is helpful. It’s a useless waste of energy and time

It's entirely personal, and depends on how often you do it and how you feel after. After your mind is in a better place and porn no longer bothers you, I don't see any issue if it's something you want to do and it doesn't negatively affect you.

It doesn't work, it leads back to porn, always, you may get away without porn but understand you actually have a masturbation addiction, porn just makes it easier, so when you need to masturbate but can't, on goes the porn. You can try it but you will fail, 100% certainty. At least do it after 90 days when your urges wont be strong.

Also i noticed masturbation without porn still has negative affects, try you'll see, you're still slightly less than.

I'm disgusted by all the biased replies on this thread. Things like this:
Is pleasure not a valid reason to do certain things?
It's hardly infinitesimal. Masturbation (orgasm) is probably the most significant form of pleasure humans can experience.

People, stop letting your personal experience taint your perspective on things. Masturbation is only unhealthy when it's done in a damaging way. We have the freedom to choose which hobbies and leisure activities we deem useful or useless. To call something done for pleasure a "waste of time/energy" is utterly meaningless. Do you play video games, watch videos or TV? You are wasting your time.

Yes - I think, the problem is that you are asking this question as a porn addict, you are thinking about porn and fantasising about porn scenarios etc. which is not going to help you get over your addiction - although it might seem like it provides some 'release'. Nor does having sex with your wife when you are just shutting your eyes thinking about porn in order to perform, for that matter.

Moderate masturbation may be a healthy, or at least, not damaging part of some people's sex lives. But it is not part of a reboot!

Agreed!! I’m seeing a decline in the open-mindedness and respect that I used to see more commonly on this forum. What’s with all the shaming? Everyone has different problems, different goals, different life philosophies, and different reasons for being here. Can’t we all be a little more respectful toward those differences? People are asking for advice. And it’s simply not useful to just scold people into agreeing that “hard mode is the only mode, and all masturbation is failure.”

To me it’s like blowing all your potential and happiness for nothing. And yet I’ve done it for years and wish to be rid of it forever

  17. It's equivalent to over eating. In time you'll become obese. Why would you want to do that to yourself. Why would you want to deplete yourself? Tell me? What is there to gain from that? Nothing at all..... You're not winning in anyway.

NoFap is largely personal at the end of the day and it affects everyone differently, so only an individual can truly assess what MO without P does for them. With that being said, I would imagine someone who's been used to PMO for years would have a pretty hard time getting off without any kind of visual stimulation. At least when it comes to me, there's pretty much no way I could get off without either one of those masturbator toys or P. My ability to mentally visualize things has gotten better through meditation but my imagination can only do so much. With that being said, if you feel you're in a good place and you can incorporate MO into your life without falling back down the slippery slope, I say go for it. Not all addicts need to 100% stay away from what they were addicted to in every way shape and form. Gambling addicts can work their way back to enjoying casinos like a normal person, alcoholics through CBT and other counseling can work their way back to drinking in moderation, its not all black and white. Some people truly have highly addictive personalities that cause them to fall down the slippery slope faster than others, but again that's something for the individual to process. In any case I can only recommend incorporating MO after a reboot to be on the safe side.

Most of us here have addictive personalities so we lack self-control. Maybe your typical non-addict can handle either P or M without a problem. I know that I can't. I find abstinence to be much easier than moderation. I also hate the post-O effects: fatigue, depression, lack of interest, no motivation, difficulty concentrating, headaches, and anxiety. The few seconds of pleasure isn't worth the 5-6 day hangover. I really don't understand how some people on the forum are tempted by MO because it supposedly "relaxes you and helps you focus." I'd probably never believe MO is a problem if it did that for me.
I don't think developing the imagination for MO is a good idea. However, after a couple of weeks of hardmode (no PMO), I find that MO is quite easy even without fantasizing or visualizing anything at all. Touch is all that is required for me to relapse.

I never saw watching porn a sin.. (I'm not a huge believer, sorry)
But at the same time, I have to agree with you that it is wrong
Yes, that's exactly what I did yesterday!
I had this huge desire to masturbate but instead, I went to the living room and started working out a little bit.
    Talking about porn..
I'm not sure why but for some reason, right now I'm at the point where porn disgust me.
Usually, whenever I tried to do a 10-20-30 day streak in NoFap, whenever porn came into the picture I relapsed within 24-36 hours..
    But.. as for now?
I watched porn yesterday (just a little bit, maybe 10 minutes or so) and nothing happen.
I didn't have any desire to continue on browsing or to search for something more explicit and even the porn actress didn't look so appealing and beautiful to me (as it used to be).
So you can tell that I'm definitely going through some changes.
    Thanks!
    Yea,I know.
My highest streak without MO so far was 50 days (I think)
and I remember that after I relapsed I felt pretty awful :/.
That's another good perspective to watch at things..
    Thanks bro!
    100% true!
Thank you very much for that comment!
