What is your overarching 'why'?

Discussion in 'Rebooting - Porn Addiction Recovery' started by Deleted Account, Oct 22, 2017.

  1. Antony Robbins said that one important key toward setting a goal is to have a compelling why. I want to start off this thread simply to list of the benefits I would get(the carrot) and a list of what it will cost me if you do not follow through(the stick) I encourage all of you to do the same so that we can have a huge list of reasons for staying on track.

    Benefits of following through
    1. A better and healthy relationship with my significant other.
    2. More focus at work to move ahead in my career.
    3. More time for my family and more time to accommodate healthy habits.
    4. Daily reinforcement to build strength by stacking up successes.
    5. A feeling of control that I am in charge.
    6. A virtuous cycle of success in other things that challenges me to be more.
    7. A 'halo' affect that success in one part of my life will flow into others.
    8. Better relationships and real connections with friends, family(all my children), colleagues and acquaintances.
    9. Experiencing a life with human feelings and more strength.
    10. Unjustified anger and resentment toward my loved ones, when I am called upon to do my share of tasks.

What will it cost me if I don't?
    1. Lack of control.
    2. A vicious cycle of an uncontrollable need for stimulation and a disgusting habit of self-gratification.
    3. An indifference to all that life has to offer leading to depression
    4. Inability to handle life's pressing needs because of this sick preoccupation consuming all my time and energy.
    5. A breakdown of all relationships leading to an isolation of self.
    6. The feeling that I am stuck in a thick dark cloud of despair and hopelessness.
    7. A poverty of emotions, hope or ambition that is inevitably reflected in my life.

Please feel free to add your own carrots and sticks. ;)
