    Just out of curiosity.

Mine seems to be boredom, but also thoughts of loneliness. Every once and a while I'll see an image, I'm starting to think seeing an image might have a delayed effect.

I'm finding that sometimes too I just go into this weird autopilot mode and just do it, but I know it goes deeper than that and has a cause.

Anyways just wanted to hear what other people say about it.

You described my current state extremely well. Loneliness, boredom, and uncertainty are definitely potential triggers for me. The delayed effect seeing an image also seems to be a thing. We see an image and then we shake it off but we've still gotten ever so slightly closer to relapsing. Eventually all those random images will have accumulated so much that we go into auto-pilot mode and basically just want/need a release from all the tension.

Being alone for long periods of time in my room, a bad diet, boredom - also weekends when there's less to do. Especially Sunday nights.

I reckon a good 75% - 85% of Fapstronauts here (myself included!) tend to lose focus whenever boredom kicks in. Our brains are so used to M that it triggers an automatic reflex whenever it senses a lack of interest in whatever we are doing at that point in time. As of now, I dare say most of the people on this board have their brains configured to 'Feeling Bored = Opportunity for M'. This is why it is so easy to relapse - because face it, we all want some time to rest and relax, but our dopamine-addled brains simply sees it as another potential window for it to get it's fix.

The hard truth is that it'll take significant time before the brain resets itself to longer automatically identify dullness with that habit. Until then, it is our prerogative to make sure we keep our guard up at all times.

I couldn't agree more. It's so weird how you can be so determined to quit for so long...but you do let your guard down when you think things are going great. I learned a hard lesson on that...and now will always expect to have urges at times when they are likely.
