I've been using some suggestive, flirty and cute stuff. Mostly gf related because since starting this challange I've never felt more lonely. I used to be able to isolate myself socially yet never feeling alone. Not anymore though, now I feel lonely if I don't talk to someone for just one day. This is basically like people using their tv or radio to fill the silence but also diffrent.

I don't feel like a loser at all, I feel strong and capable and like a fire is burning under my ass.

I am weak against a woman's voice, therefore I stay away from ASMR, not because of relapses or some other stupid crap, but because of it would only remind me of something I want but I don't have.

Some of those ASMR’s get x-rated. I stay away from all of them now.

Totally relate but does that mean you distract yourself from your goal of achieving it?
When I view it, it prevents my lonlieness but it also adds the need for a girlfriend and that creates frustation since I dont have it.
If I totally abstained from the thought it wouldn't bother me emotionally as much but it also wouldnt light a fire under my ass.

I really don't know how to view it, I know for a fact I really want a gf, whenever I distract myself from that fact or not I'm not sure which way is going to lead me to actually go get a date

I will say there were two ASMR’s about preparing for the “Area 51 raid” that were funny. The gals that did them don’t have any x-rated material.

I would stay away from it because you're using it as an inferior substitute for something that you should be pursuing in real life. Basically what @Infrasapiens said. Also Infra, new avatar when?

Dude the forum doesn't let me use an image I used before. It says it is too heavy.

    I know a man who lost his career because of asmr-addiction. It's a porn-sub.

You are sitting alone in a room and looking at pixels. I'm not an expert in sexology and this is just a personal opinion, but for what it's worth, I think that people get addicted to pornography exactly because they want to alleviate the feeling of loneliness - sexuality is really second to the reasons why people do that. Meanwhile, the loneliness doesn't go anywhere because of porn, - on the opposite, PMO usually shuts a person it away from real connection with real people. A connection is "real" when you are together because you both delight in each other's presence, and Not real if one of you gets paid (directly or indirectly (via advertising or what not) for that connection.

Aw that sucks. Well on the bright side, if I ever forget what your gender is, I can always just look at your avatar placeholder for a quick reminder.

I totally see your point, that's the thought that made me ask. When I've used it its basically been a tease of what could be and that fact made it so that I felt more motivated to actually act. Totally abstaining I feel like I would just become asexual and focus on other things instead, time would pass and I wouldnt get anywhere. I will start to not use it however, just to see whenever that helps more or not.

Well, I listen/watched to asmr videos in the past. To me it's sexual. When a very lovely sensitive voice creeps into my ears, on some point it touches me somewhere deeply. Because the voice is feminine, soft and quiet, it wakes up something sensitive inside of me. The question is: do I want this to let happen to me?
For me it's a "no". It's just another way to cope with problems, to hide for real life and real intimicy.
It should be no surprise if you get addicted to it when you start listening to asmr stuff.

If I will ever let a lovely soft and quite voice whispering all kind of things into my ears, it will be the voice of my wife I'm then married with :)

Thank you, I needed to hear that. You're absolutley right... man you've totally called me out, now I'm not going to be able to watch it anymore. But it is so lovely, I want it bad. That thing about it being addictive because its a coping strategy, very smart. This settles it for me, no more asmr. I kind of feel like since its satisfying a need you won't seem as desperate for that irl, which could be attractive though. Anyhow, it's over. Now it's time to act, get heartbroken and win.:)

Thanks for your reply. It's silly how obvious it is when called out. It makes total sense that it's a distraction. Thank you, I understand the need.

  18. I think real asmr hits another spot than porn. However watching some girl whispering into a plastic ear can easily turn me on and trigger me. Also I have watched porn WITH asmr - but that's just porn.

But there are other things like the sound of fingernails tipping on certain materials - that works for me and it is definitely not a sexual thing.
I think it's nice that there is such a thing on the web. But that doesn't mean I need to go there. When I want to relax I can do it without help of media or I listen to some nice audiobook or music.

Actually there's asmr in real life. As a child I had it more often. Certain settings that give you an odd comforting feeling where you just want to sit and be there ... it's one of the bodies own drugs I guess :D
