Where are the experts at?

Discussion in 'Porn-Induced Sexual Dysfunctions' started by Deleted Account, Jul 29, 2018.

  1. who here actually got rid of PIED and wants to talk? Seriously, I see a lot of talk of WANTING to get rid of PIED but no one who has. There’s gotta be someone still on the forums who has had successful sex that couldn’t before a streak.

Gonna keep bumping this till I get the experts here.

    My husband has.
    He's 2&1/2 years P&M free.
What do you want to know?

@Kenzi Good to hear! I'll ask a few, if you don't mind.

    1) How long did it take him?

    2) Was there anything else he did besides Porn Abstinence that may have contributed to his recovery?

About 10months for solid erections to come back... They were hit or miss til a year and a half.

And his reboot plan is in my signature :)

Oh, and... I completely understand if this is too personal, but... did he purposefully try to abstain from O at all during the first few months, or did you try and it just did not happen until it happened naturally? I fully intend to read a bit of your lists, but it looks like it'll take some time.

Thanks for your input, info like this is pretty cool to have!

He abstinened for 20days as a condition of a boundary break... Not because of hard reboot.
We do think it helped tho.
And he believes everyone should have a hard reboot period.
He has his own journal in relationships in reboot if you want to ask him any direct questions, although I also don't mind answering.
Without asking, how will you know?

  7. How long did his flatline last if he had one?

And damn, 10 months. I’m finally on 21 days and was feeling like I was close to beating this

    Which one?
Most people with PIED note Two.
A typical Flatline - no erections and tired, brain fog, etc
and a second one, some refer to as a "Blue Period" which is more of a 'bored of sex and life and anger, depression' stage

  9. I’d probably say type 1. My brain fog is usually when I PMO and goes away after a couple days. But this is the furthest of gotten so far and I just kind of feel asexual. Kinda weird feeling and I’m trying to remind myself to not “test” anything.

Also, if you don’t mind me asking, how extreme was your husbands addiction? I.E. my tastes never escalated to anything above vanilla P.

The first can last a couple of weeks (first Flatline)
And the second one can last up to a couple of months (but not always)
After the second one, true libido returns and most PAs have creativity and clarity back. Problems with erectile dysfunction are very minimal and performance anxiety is reduced also.

    His was very extreme.
And it doesn't matter how "vanilla" you were... PIED can effect anyone who is addicted.
If you arent very far into PIED, however, you might heal faster.

  12. Hi!

So you guys continued to have sex during the reboot after 20 days? I’m trying to figure out a good plan with my wife that won’t slow down recovery time TOO much.

My husband's PIED is gone. He suffered from it for years, as an addict for 25 years. He got hard erections again in about 6 weeks after stopping M and P and he never went through a flat line. We were still actively having sex (about 3-4 times a week) so no reboot at the time. He has been PM free for over a year. He was still having trouble with P-subs though so we did a 30 day hard reboot at the beginning of this year and practiced karezza during that time. That helped to reset his brain and his desire for p-subs disappeared.

    Hope that helps!

Spent a lot of time, lookin for this for this thread.
Screenshot_20170817-070227.png please don't feel like ten months is a long time. Everyone heals from PIED at a different rate.
The point is to get rid of p/m&psubs because without them, PIED can not actually be gone.
    (it can just appear gone)
PE, DE sudden erection loss, and many more are all symptoms of PIED.
And, if you feel like it's necessary, see a doctor.
    Alot of times, it's not.
Don't worry about how many Flatlines... Because know that when you have PIED, having more than one Flatline, is OK.
And having sex with a partner is good... Lots of different partners is similar to novelty seeking so tread cautiously.

Just because one person is OK in two weeks and another in a year... Don't measure your yardstick of progress against anyone else.
    PIED takes awhile.
People site how long it takes, not to make you feel bad but to let you know you can make it too.... But your milage Will Vary.
    Please remember and good luck.

  16. Thanks for the post @EyesWideOpen From what I can gather it seems that your husband is one of the few that recovered rather quickly! That’s so awesome to hear. I’m glad everything worked out for you two.

I just hate having pied. I get so nervous...I’ll even get anxious about it the whole day if I know my wife wants to have sex that night. Just the thought of the little guy not responding really bothers me. So I’m sure I’m not only battling pied but maybe even some performance anxiety....as strange as that is.

He was fortunate. I kept wondering when the flatline was going to happen because everyone on nofap says it DOES haooen. I mean, after having PIED for so many years and not knowing why (we were ignorant that PMO caused it until recently) and I didnt know about his PA.

But it is important to try not to compare journeys because everyone is different and your bodies adjust differently. Use them as a gauge to judge if you are heading in the right direction. Use them as a measure of hope, that it can be cured if you stick with it. Some just take longer than others, don't get discouraged.

Even with his success in the PIED area, he still gets anxious sometimes about it because it was an issue for so long. Or he worries that if he isn't as hard as the previous night that I think he's been active again when I reality if we have sex a few nights in a row, his erection just isn't as hard as if we skip a night or two, like it needs a little break. Haha. I always assure him I know he didnt relapse. I know what a relapse is and that's not it. Keep up the fight, you'll get there.

That's the most interesting thing about all this for me, that some people make a full recovery after a lot longer than 3 months. I wonder where this 3 month reboot idea came from? I've seen a few posts on here where someone decides to quit NoFap because they did the 3 months and nothing happened.

I'm now curious as to whether anyone here has successfully cured their PIED without help from a SO. Because although I have an SO, we can't have sex yet for religious reasons, and I hope that doesn't complicate my healing process.
