Why do humans enjoy being serfs?

A group for members of all religions, or no religion at all, to talk about religion

@Max Fisher this is unrelated but if God hates the human flesh so much then why does He advocate for two humans to join their sin riddled spiritual and physical flesh together in sex and marriage? I'm not attacking the Bible or anything, it's a genuine question.

Your question asserts an interesting premise at the very beginning which I'm not sure I agree with. Explain what you mean by "hates the human flesh so much".

If your question is why does God advocate marriage, we can talk about it from a million different perspectives so it's quite the can of worms. Before I answer I have a question for you. Is marriage a sacrament? Is your understanding of Christianity sacramental?

I'm not Catholic but yes I think marriage is a sacrament. And when I say God hates the human flesh? I mean that He clearly says how bad and evil the flesh is over and over again in the Bible like in Galatians 5:24, Galatians 5:17 and Romans 13:14.

If you believe marriage is a sacrament and you have a correct understanding of what a sacrament is you answered your own question. God uses sacraments to channel grace. He also uses broken and fallen things to achieve his will. Some people are called to marriage, and God uses it and blesses it so that grace may abound.

I've been thinking a little and I want to apologize to all the Christians in this thread, I guess I was being disrespectful and I apologize for being rude to you and for belittling you for your beliefs.

First , serfs are not slaves. They are in contract with a lord to optimyze and exploit a ground. They own rights and duties.
It 's only recently, with marxism ,than slavery has been associated with serfdom.
You will be surprised than in the ends of serfdom, a lot of peasants rebelled against the new capitalist order :)

Secondly, i have read recently than human beings are more domestic animals than men of culture and thoughts.
We are weak ,can t live in nature, we need a group and we fear to be rejected like… sheeps.
That 's why in my humble opinion , people are submitting their intelligence and will to bullshits if it 's applauded and approved by millions :)

And finally : all religions ( people gathering) are deeply tied to politic and money. It does not mean you cannot have any spirituality tough ;)

I did not want to mean especially the religions and i did not target any specific belief.
I am far away to be disrespectful.

It is a forum; so opinions can hurt like any point of view.

I would be disrespectful if came in a religious part of the forum and began to troll.
But this is interreligious discussion of the forum , and the title of the post is :
" Why do humans enjoy being serfs?" A group for members of all religions, or no religion at all, to talk about religion

I am in my right ;)

If I may provide a different perspective as most religions have no real coherent philosophical core. This phenomena is not just one that has been adopted by religious thinkers but also those espousing a socialistic/communistic/marxist ideological framework. The notion that a higher entity has capabilities to remedy perceived injustices and the trade-off or price is dependency and devotion.

There are many psychological reasons for wanting to serve a higher authority of any kind:
    1. mostly it provides hope and justification for suffering
    2. belief that perceived injustices can be righted
    3. it is a coping mechanism for stressful times
    4. dependency allows for the shifting of responsibility to external source
    5. it provides meaning to existence and people want to believe in order rather than chaos
There are also social reasons for doing this as well.

..because we are all Sinners and herd mentality is part of that. I feel you; I was just like you a few years ago. God had other plans, lol. A wise man once said "wanna make God laugh?" tell him about your plans for your life. That being said, I am a believer, a Calvinist to be more specific. God is Sovereign. He will not share His glory with anyone else.

To all Christian participants in this thread that I attacked, I sincerely apologize and I am sorry for propogating the negative stereotype of atheists of being attacking and condescending of theistic beliefs or even implying that I or my beliefs may be better in some way or another... I hope you didn't go away with those stereotypical beliefs and if you did I apologize. Your beliefs are not stupid and I'm sorry if I insulted anyone.
