In the country I live, porn was illegal and if you were caught with porn material in your possession you were arrested. That all changed at some point unfortunately and now porn is everywhere everyday.

  2. This is what I’ve always believed. Porn is like alcohol you can make it illegal but it will always exist because society has already accepted it and been influenced by it. I think the last thing you want to do is push it underground because I believe that’s not only going to create an black market for it but that market is also going to not be regulated by anyone meaning there will be more extreme porn available.

Also whether you or I like it it’s not really fair to the people who enjoy porn to take that away from them. Maybe there is a middle ground though. What do you think about going back to how it was in the 90s when internet porn wasn’t really a thing and it was DVDs, magazines, adult theatres etc. I feel like with that it’s a bit easier to avoid porn and kids especially wouldn’t have access to it. At the end of the day as cliche as it sounds I really don’t like how easy it easy for the young ones to access. PMO has pretty much ruined most of my life because it became my ingrained in me at such a young age. I don’t like seeing gen Z and Gen alpha be affected by it so heavily either. It’s much worse for them because there is so much extreme content available on the front page of just about any adult website. I do believe there is a conversation to be had and more practical steps to be taken to make it harder to gain access to. But I think at this moment unfortunately most people don’t really take it seriously.

It's a mind controller. Think of the people that do Onlyfans. Your basically selling your soul to millions on the internet where they keep records on their phones. Money has been flipped from greed to lust, lust straight back to greed. Millions of Woman are misusing their bodies in which they could probably be helping somebody. You have amazing *** **** *""** of course, basically witches.. It blows my mind that the government hasn't stepped in or done anything about these sites.

I know you meant this from a good place but this post is borderline moronic. Porn literally contributes to people becoming rapists and killers and no man is that ugly unless you're speaking of some deformity. Also married men who watch porn are basically cheating, you're lusting over another women repeatedly and it leads to cheating too.

There is NOTHING beneficial about porn, NOTHING. Remember that and remember nothing is free porn consumption price tag is your life and soul

  6. I understand where you are coming from, but your ideas are based on incorrect myths. Let me explain.
    First:

it is incredibly rare that a man is that ugly.

Men who are ugly by conventional standards can still find a loving wife. Consider Shane Burcaw, who married a beautiful woman. I have seen other examples.

    Second:

Porn won't fix this. An "ugly" man who becomes addicted to porn simply becomes an unhappier "ugly" addict.

Porn does the opposite of help.
This assumes that cheating is to do with seeing someone sexy who isn't your partner. A man (or woman, for that matter) who feels that he must use porn has a serious problem, one of addiction or maybe one of a serious relationship problem.

Again, porn won't fix this; it'll make it worse.
    The same comment applies here.

Rape is not primarily about sex, but about power and violence. If it were about sex, you wouldn't get rapists raping old women or women who don't fit the conventional definition of beauty.

Similarly, most people who suffer from the condition of paedophilia don't commit the crime. But for those who do, how would porn satisfy them? Legal porn doesn't use children, and porn that does not only is illegal but also abuses children. Porn does nothing to prevent paedophilia.

In both cases, porn worsens the situation, because an entire subcategory of porn glamorises rape and makes out that women enjoy it (spoiler alert: they don't. It causes serious problems, including PTSD), while another entire subcategory glamorises paedophilia. Until the recent blacklisting by the major credit card companies, PornHub and its parent company MindGeek were guilty of actively promoting, or at least allowing, these forms of porn, which in many cases were films of actual rape and abuse.

I completely agree with you! Iam the partner of a porn addict who's in denial,I've done all the research & come to the same conclusion, porn is evil its affects need to be discussed .More awareness is definitely necessary.good luck on your journey but you are all ready way better off because you understand the issue alot of men will not even admit it is a problem, even when they see it has caused a massive change to intimacy with real partner

Exactly and I fully believe easy Internet access is the main cause of porn addiction, rising sexual disfunction in younger men & even rise in sexual attacks.its crazy how society deems this as 'normal' if you saw a couple having sex you wouldn't stand there masturbating so how is porn different, yes it was alot harder to obtain years ago & it was more unrealistic & wasn't full of teenagers & incest.its unreal

Same I am an S.O of a P.A and when I try to discuss the pain and problems it has caused I get alot of "oh well they all watch porn it's normal" is it though? Is it normal to prefer PMO to your actual girlfriend? Is it normal for a 40 year old man to watch teenage girls and step sister porn? Is it normal to ED only with your partner but not to porn? I don't think any of it is healthy

It isn’t. Porn isn’t going to be banned so we need to be strong and walk away from it. If I don’t see something after a while I can forget about it. It shouldn’t be about simply not ejaculating. IMO it has to be no looking at porn whatsoever and no edging. Cutting out porn cuts out the rest.

  11. For some reason, some people think that edging isn't masturbating, even though you need to masturbate to get to the edge.

Edging is extremely harmful to your brain's responses. I suspect that that's why some people (mostly men, a few women) get an addiction to tease & denial (teasing followed by enforced "chastity"). A rational person wouldn't subject himself or herself to an hour of extreme teasing and edging, and then have a chastity device put on so that they can't complete. But an addict would.

The problem with banning porn is that you may create a monopoly with crime. The same way alcohol was vilified in the 1920s but the crime was so out of control that alcohol became legalized in 1933.

Porn is designed to be very addicting, just like drugs. Believe it or not, people have actually gone bankrupt because of their porn addiction.

    Here are some examples:

When you go without porn or edging for a period of time you will experience a desire to jump straight back into it. To feel pleasure in the absence of it. Ignore that. Keep going. In the long run you win.

many movies and tv shows have sex scenes which qualify as porn imo. it'll get more and more acceptable eventually.
it would be better if there were an idea that porn is bad.
instead watching porn is considered cool among teens. like nudge nudge wink wink.

    i was one of them.

Yeah, if I had to go down to some sketchy store off the highway in order to access porn, I would never have developed this problem.

    The internet really changed things.

doing porn (being in a porno) can ruin your life later like drugs Idk they should at least put I’d verification on porn sites, all you gotta do is tick a box

  19. If you read the stories and documentation about what happens to the actors, both men and women, this is truer than you would imagine. Even if porn weren't a problem for users, I still wouldn't use it, because I refuse to support an industry with an insane level of abuse.

There was an investigation by the New York Times (unfortunately, you need a subscription to read it) that exposed just some of the unethical practices. You can read other articles elsewhere about this problem, some written by actors who since managed to leave the industry.

While I would like to see a world where porn is banned and does not exist, what I think we need to advocate for, spread awareness of, etc. is the obvious need for common sense regulations on porn. I genuinely believe that:

    1. Requiring age verification prior to registered porn site entry
    2. Requiring age verification of people appearing in pornographic material
    3. Public service health campaigns like exist against tobacco to educate the public on the problem
    4. Massive tax hikes on porn producing and distributing companies

... would be massive steps forward into containing this monster and would all be OVERWHELMINGLY popular with the public. Technically, we don't need an immediate ban. Reasonable steps like this could put so much pressure on the industry. I know we will never fully eliminate porn, but we have to end the era of instant porn everywhere for children. (And sometimes made by children sadly.) This is a huge public health issue of our time.
