Will we always relapse even if we stop for a very very long time?

You just have to be strong enough not to relapse after a long streak. Imagine you're a smoker and after 6 months of no smoking at all you try a cigarette for whatever reason (logic plays no role in this example). You could either be disgusted or enjoy it once more and try one after the other. The same goes with relapsing. You might relapse and then feel okay and move on or you could go back to where you started

But as far as to what works then it is up to each of us. We are not the same so what worked for you might be a perfect fit for someone else

 

Hey i personally would be happy to talk to a therapist. But since I have no health insurance I am not financially eligible. I did not mean to say it is worthless to speak to a good one. Personally I cannot speak to that because I have never had a chance to visit with therapist for more than 3 sessions (maximum it was).

I dont say to females in my life anything about me quitting PMO. Most of them would be disgusted/repulsed if a man mentions it. They dont understand men's sexual needs and view it with disdain same as they view a dog that humps people's legs. Its the same way that we cannot empathize with an Arsonist's need to start fires, instead we are disgusted with an Arsonist. The reason why is because we cannot relate with an Arsonist's needs to start fires.....and women cant relate to men who PMO to excess.

 

Dude, it's been scary as hell to talk about quitting PMO because I have a problem with it. I have not talked about it with 99% of the people in my life. I have, however, talked about it with my wife and my best friend. I don't know you, the people in your life, or your circumstances, but I do know keeping this secret becomes a burden. It's refreshing when you talk with someone that you trust and they empathize (even if they don't share your challenge). Don't get me wrong. NoFap and other communities are great for sharing, but it may be possible to share outside of them.

 

Yeah, its probably too dangerous in most cases to take the risk of "sharing" with normies about your masturb problems. With the anonimity of this forum I feel my needs are taken care of. The answer to this is simple: Erase the pron, stop going to the x rated websites and then after that just refrain from edging and masturb.

Also for the people that use this as a "stress relief" they need to find alternative coping mechanisms. And not turning to alcohol or drugs or overeating either. Or shop-a-holism or gambling addiction either.

 

You make a good point about the approach to quitting PMO. I have found it helpful to break the process down into small attainable goals that I can put into practice. By the way, I've deleted YouTube off of my phone and limited what websites I can access on my phone. The journey of a thousand miles and all that...

Also shout out to you calling out the concept of "stress relief" and coping mechanisms. That's something I've come to realize over time, too. It's like I've had this anxiety from the beginning and PMO was the way I found to cope with it starting in my adolescence. It could have easily been something else, though.

Anyhow, I've got to be grateful that I have the insight I have now and the capacity to improve myself. My best to everyone out there.
