    Hey,

    I'm really, really struggling. I deal with bipolar and chronic migraines and porn has become a distraction from the overwhelming pain. It's difficult to make good decisions when you feel so awful. I want to use this thread to write verses that encourage me and, hopefully, encourage you. I try not to give into the shame, but it's hard, so this verse comes to mind: "There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus." - Romans 8:1

    Isaiah 26:3 - "You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!"

    There are all kinds of ways to distract ourselves from pain. PMO is a very poor option, as it leaves us worse off than we were before. There are better ones. Get obsessed with something good and productive and healthy.

    And kick shame to the curb! There is no room for that in the disciple's life. Onward!

    Amen to that; for so many years I thought I must cling to my shame because it would help deter me from sinning again. Frankly, that is a big lie from the enemy. Shame simply drove me to despair of ever breaking free and it contributed to my view of God as a boss. Learning to see Our Heavenly Father as loving Dad and learning to see His Son as a kind brother and friend has helped me open my heart to God and see His kindness and mercy throughout my life and my world.
