Every day work on some quitting addiction technique. If you are too tired to even think... you need to work on something even more. Exhaustion is a top reason for struggling. If you are too frustrated to keep up the self-discipline – ditto, frustration causes falls.

People who make it 400-500 days have a bunch of go-to methods that they use “No matter what.” They now have the habit of “Working on something every day in every situation.”

Michael Jordan was a talented basketball player. But he was the greatest because every day he would work on something. As a freshman in HS he could run and jump, but couldn't shoot. So every day he worked on shooting. As a rookie in the NBA he could shoot and dunk but he was skinny. As a Bulls fan it was shocking to see how rapidly he got strong so nobody could knock him out of the playoffs anymore.

There was one reason and one reason alone that the Bulls went to 6 championships and won all six. It was because “every day” Jordan worked on something (and inspired others to do the same). I wrote a story called unstoppable in my book How Peter Quit Porn because he is a stunning example of someone willing to put in the work to succeed.

Patriots coach Bill Belichick is famous for his saying “No days off.” In the quitting addiction realm that might mean praising the Lord when you are exhausted. It might mean putting on a great Christian video from someone like Lauren Daigle when you are frustrated to give the Holy Spirit a chance to calm you down. It certainly means praying “Father, help me to turn aggressively from sin,” before you start a movie or a TV show, and praying it again if a scene starts to look risky.

Pray: “Father, help me to be willing to work on something every day.”

Galatians 6:8 ESV For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.”

What becomes corrupt for you because of lust? Solomon, because of his lust, turned from the true God and got caught up in putting other gods before Him. David's corruption led to him becoming a murderer. Write out a list of things that become corrupt for you because of lust. Every time you start to think about lust, stop. Instead, think about those things that become corrupt for you.

    Proverbs 21:17 ESV
Whoever loves pleasure will be a poor man.”

Consider praying: “Father, take away my love of pleasure.”

Consider praying: “Father, help me to love and help people more than I love pleasure.”

A love of pleasure leads to temptation. A love of God leads to freedom.

    1 Corinthians 9:27 ESV
But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified.”

Some people read their Bible and pray daily. Then they come to NoFap for 20-30 minutes daily. That is disciplining the body.

    1 Timothy 5:6 ESV
But she who is self-indulgent is dead even while she lives.”

Pray about purpose and always fight wanting more, looking at more, and anything else in excess.

She who is dedicated to Christ is abundantly alive, even in hard times.

I have added 1 Timothy 5:6 to the list of verses that I meditate on.

1 John 1:5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.”

People habitually overestimate the pleasure of sin and underestimate living in the light. But if we memorize verse six, we start to reverse that wrong thinking. We start to be inspired to go to war with lust and sin.

Gotquestions.org wrote: “In the New Testament, “walking in the light” is directly related to following Jesus, who said, “I am the light of the world. He who follows me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life” (John 8:12). Consider praying:

“Father, show me how to follow You.”

Psalm 119:105: “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”

To walk in the Light, make God's Word a priority with daily Bible reading, memorization, and a focus on the verses you need to overcome sin.

ActiveChristianity.org noted: “To walk in the light is to bring my life into alignment with the Word of God – that the Word becomes my life. That nothing that I do is in conflict with the Word of God.”

It is hard work to walk in the Light. But once we commit to that life we finally begin to stop overestimating the pleasure of sin and underestimating the greatness of letting Jesus' light shine through us.

ActiveChristianity.org continued: “Darkness is sin. The light is truth. It shows me where there is still sin in my flesh. My job then is to love the truth: to acknowledge that there is sin in my life that needs to be cleansed out. Then the Word of God comes to me with the way that it should be and I choose God’s Word over my own desires in the time of temptation. Then the Word becomes life in me.”

Once that happens, we start to live a great life filled with Light.

A lot of time should be spent working on quitting. Many people spend 25 minutes at this site. That is smart. But only a few understand that it is just as important to work on something every hour that you can. Obviously, if you are busy at work this does not apply. But if you have tons of time to lust at work or school, taking 1 minute to review your quitting plan on your phone is needed.

Second, if you review a quitting verse every hour, and read a reminder to pray often every hour, you will be working on quitting every hour. Consider praying:

“Father, help me to turn from lust, and help me to be temperate.”

Stay calm, stay positive, keep control. Trying to be temperate starts to increase the Holy Spirit in us.

Finally, if you are bored, work on something regarding quitting for 5 minutes every hour. Whether you are bored or busy, try to pray about quitting many times per day. Consider setting your phone alarm so that you remember what you want to do.

    Plan/work/pray/quit.
