I don't know if you already found an answer elsewhere, but thought I should try to help.
I just started working out almost 2 months ago, and from what I've read, as long as you don't work with the same muscles on consecutive days you should be fine, as 48hrs is around the time it takes for them to recover and come back a little stronger and if you don't wait, you may be at risk to suffer some kind of injury later on
