Wristbands - They Help!

I can't remember who it was that posted on here a couple of days ago about wearing a wristband that you have to cut off before you relapse, but whoever you are - THANK YOU.

I bought this nice wristband off of Amazon for a few bucks that's got "One Life One Chance" written on it, and I put it on a few days ago "just in case" the urges got real bad.

So today they got real bad. Like real bad. But I summoned up all of my motivation and did my best to relax. Then I remembered - I have this nice wristband, that I actually really like and don't want to cut off! And so I imagined cutting it in my head, and what that would mean to me - how it's against the long term goals I've set for myself.

And poof, just like that - urge vanquished! I seriously don't think my urges can get any worse than the one that hit me today, but I sobered up almost immediately thanks to the wristband.

Any tool that can help prevent a relapse is great. I was going to relapse, but instead I'm hitting the gym now! True, nothing says I couldn't have made it without it, but it certainly made things easier.

So again mysterious stranger - whoever you are, thank you so much. You've made my day. :D

Pretty neat! I have not heard that one before. That is certainly worth a try. I will add that to my armamentarium. Thanks for sharing. Congratulations on not relapsing. Stay strong.

You can customize up to 25 letters, different bands, types. Pretty cool. cost about 25 dollars. I figured the nicer it is the more motivation not to cut it!

Haha! I totally agree. Mine was like $3 and that was still enough to encourage me not to cut it, so for $25 I think I'd be set :D. Of course it wasn't just the wristband - my mentality and all the things I've learned about myself these past few years were certainly a large piece of the puzzle!

Of course! It is only a reminder. There is no inherent power in the band. I'm not into that stuff.. energy bracelets, etc. Stay strong.
